The Marietta TS&D (Technical Service and Development) EHS Technician will own the EH&S management system (work processes, standards, procedures) for the TS&D Department. They will improve existing systems (or implement new) in order to meet EHS objectives and to maintain the license to operate. With support from Site and Hub EH&S, as well as Dow Subject Matter Experts, they provide hands-on Environmental, Industrial Hygiene and Health & Safety for Marietta TS&D.




+ Implements detailed, task level, day to day EH&S (Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Health Services) programs, utilizing the EH&S work process, standards and procedures.

+ Ensures that the environmental, Safety, IH, and Health aspects of Operating Discipline are adequate and applied to achieve EH&S performance goals. In most cases, would perform the role of Section owner for the EH&S sections of Operating Discipline.

+ Acts as the department resource for related EH&S information on procedures, guidelines and standards.

+ Department contact for Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety issues.

+ Ensures compliance tasks are identified, scheduled and completed Safety Showers, fire extinguishers, fume hoods, etc.).

+ Performs / coordinates IH monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the Plant. Modify IH Database as needed to better serve Department.

+ As required conducts and documents investigations of incidents and ensures follow up actions to prevent re-occurrences.

+ Establishment and Maintenance of Department Housekeeping program, including routine inspections.

+ Implementation of a Department pre-task analysis program (STAC cards or other).

+ Improve & Maintain SDS Database for Department.

+ Evaluate of current waste handling operating discipline & practices and improve. Provide Lab Pack training and support

+ Acts as Management of Change Coordinator for department, and provides Safety review of changes.

+ Acts as Ergonomic Focal Point for Department. Conducts Ergo Assessments and Follow Up as needed.

+ Conduct field safety audits for department and site as requested\

+ Establish and track Self-Assessment schedule for department

+ Conduct New employee orientation for Lab EH&S

+ Owner of the department Procedure Use Policy and Lab Emergency Plan






+ Bachelor Degree in Chemistry or science related field is required. Experience in a laboratory is an asset.

+ OR

+ Associates Degree in Chemistry or science related field and at least 2 years of industrial laboratory experience is required.






+ Background in EH&S preferred.

+ Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Tools

+ Experience with regulatory requirements a plus.

+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.

+ Ability to articulate health and safety information with facility leadership, researchers, and research and development (R&D) technicians.

+ Experience with exposure assessment and ability to conduct IH exposure monitoring preferred.

+ Experience with reviewing Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and communicating SDS information to workers preferred.

+ Strong writing skills needed to communicate IH exposure monitoring results to workers and summarize monitoring results in a technical report.

+ Ability to work independently and take initiative in accomplishing job responsibilities.

+ Goal-oriented, positive attitude, with an open-minded approach to learning and development.
