Electrical Buildings Engineer

Under the general direction of the Buildings Team, administers multiple complex new and renovation building construction projects within Clients plants. This role is plan, Engineer, design and document electrical systems, to assess existing systems and provide bidding/construction support for buildings and facilities, including Switchgear/MCC buildings, control rooms, laboratories, warehouses, office spaces, mechanical rooms, maintenance shops and other industrial facilities.


The Key Activities of a Buildings Electrical Engineer include, but are not limited to:

+ Provide guidance to the project electrical design team including supporting leads, designers and drafters

+ Represent the electrical design team in project team meetings.

+ Perform and/or review all short circuit, load flow, and other power system studies to insure appropriate equipment ratings and power system performance

+ Work closely with design staff to coordinate, or develop the design of electrical plans, grounding, lighting, cable raceway systems, basic power distribution including low-voltage installations, low voltage distribution

+ Perform and/or review calculations for sizing low and medium voltage distribution equipment

+ Utilizing Client standards, develop One Line Diagrams, Control Schematics, and Electrical Diagrams

+ Develop and/or review detailed equipment specifications, inquiry/order packages, job instructions, drawings, and installation details for construction contracts

+ Prepare and document Energy compliance calculations and forms

+ Size and select electrical equipment for use in industrial projects

+ Coordinate work with other engineering disciplines, architects and clients

+ Establish project standards; provide technical support of project work

+ Develop a full understanding of the project scope and procedures

+ Monitor the engineering and design efforts on his/her project to assure compliance with Client, Clients and industry standards

+ Establish drawing requirements, project procedures and controls, stressing continuity within all disciplines

+ Continue development of his/her personal knowledge, skills and potential, both technical and supervisory

+ Travel to sites for field verification, perform building assessments related to electrical and follow up with assessment reports to meet Clients requirement as well as NEC (National Electrical Code)

+ Ability to work/ coordinate with internal and external teams

+ Work with the buildings and electrical technology groups in the development and support of building standards and details


+ A minimum requirement for this U.S based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process

+ Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required

+ Registration as a Professional Engineer required, LEED AP a positive

+ 10+ plus years working for a MEP firm required with an emphasis on buildings

+ Working knowledge of industry codes and standards (IEC, NFPA, ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, etc.)

+ Previous experience in the following types of projects: Switchgear/MCC Buildings, Control Rooms, Laboratories, Warehousing, Office Space, Mechanical Rooms and Maintenance Shops

+ Strong work ethic and team-oriented skills

+ Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required.

Proficiency in MS Office, Microstation (SE & V8i), AutoCAD & Revit required
