Kelly Engineering Resources has an outstanding direct hire opportunity for a Controls Engineer with hardware design and PLC software design. In this role, you would work with a machine tool manufacturer and be responsible for design & development, system debug & test, commissioning and validation.

**Essential Responsibilities of the Controls Design Engineer**

+ Contribute to electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic controls system layouts and design

+ Design hardware from scratch including, sizing transformers, fusing, control systems, schematics, panel layouts.

+ Use AutoCAD

+ HMI & PLC selection per customer specifications

+ Equipment integration

+ Develop a variety of PLC, HMI & CNC programs

+ Logic Design

+ HMI design

+ Control device networks for PLCs and CNC systems.

+ Industrial control device configuration and setup

+ System commissioning, debug and troubleshooting

+ Visual Studio (C# or programming preferred (but not required)

+ Ensuring all designs adhere and comply with all applicable specifications and standards, including UL508A

+ Troubleshooting and modifying existing control systems to resolve failures and/or improve operational performance

+ Interacting with customers to gain an understanding of specifications and scope of work for assigned projects.

**Qualifications of the Successful Controls Design Engineer:**

+ Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Controls Engineering or related

+ Working knowledge and proficiency in industrial hardware & software controls design

+ Allen Bradley required, Siemens TIA/Step7, Fanuc and/or Rockwell ControlLogix PLC Programming experience preferred

+ HMI Development

+ Networking experience including Profinet/Profibus, EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, and DeviceNet.

+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office (specifically AutoCAD Electrical and MS Excel)

+ Willingness to travel (typically 25% or less), primarily regional ( MI, IN, OH)
