Description Kelly Services has an outstanding **direct hire opportunity for an PLC/Controls Engineering Technician with** programming expertise. In this role, you would work for an international manufacturer of packaging materials and high speed packaging equipment. You would work **Monday-Friday 6:30 AM-3:00 PM** with minimal overtime.

**Job Scope of the PLC/Contorls Engineering Technician** : Under direction of the Plant Engineer you will work on continuous improvement projects in relation to plant as well as product automation upgrades .

**As an PLC/Controls Engineering Technician, your main responsibilities will be to:**

+ **Install, trouble shoot and repai** r production & facility programmable equipment. (95% of PLCs is **Allen Bradley** , 5% **Siemens** )
+ Specialize in developing.editing **PLC Code** for new manufacturing process, equipment integration and continuous improvement efforts.

+ Panel upgrades

+ HMI upgrades

+ PLC upgrades

+ new equipment installaiton
+ Support production by:

+ trouble shooting and repair electrical & mechanical problems in a fast. paced, automated manufacturing environment.

+ enhancing production quality & optimization through feedback from operators, quality and others on the production floor

+ provide training as needed and help with problems solving
+ Contribute ideas towards optimizing, adding and improving control system and method improvements to controllers.
+ Support continuous improvement projects through:

+ Developing new or editing existing code in order to ensure smooth integration of new machinery/equipment into existing operations

+ Design & improve software using PLC microcontroller architectures for existing products

+ Develop new features & options for existing products

+ Use AutoCAD for layout of equipment within the facility

+ Work with production, vendors, for root cause analysis, training, commissioning activities.

+ Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
+ Meet productivity objectives (results and timeline achievement) provided by the Manager.
+ Keep Manager informed of workload and any delays impeding completion.
+ Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
+ Participate in training and development programs including all areas of environmental, health and safety issues, especially those dealing with electrical safety.
**Qualifications of the Successful PLC/Controls Engineering Technician**

+ Associates Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Maintenance or other related technical degrees is required
+ Minimum 4 year progressive experience as an Industrial Controls Technician/ Plant Electrician with at least 1-2 year minimum experience with PLC & GUI in a manufacturing environment.
+ Experience should include:

+ writing new code for new manufacturing process

+ adjusting/editing existing code from PLC library to enhance existing production or for new production

+ implementing new code into production

+ trouble shooting electrical and mechanical systems
+ Technical proficiency in the following is required:

+ Rockwell Automation

+ RS Logix 500/5000

+ Panelbuilder32

+ RS View 32

+ Factory Talk View Studio

+ MS Office
+ Any CAD experience a plus including ability to draw electrical controls for machinery
