**Embedded Software Project Manager Direct Hire**

Kelly Engineering is searching for an **Embedded Software/Firmware Engineering Project Manager** on behalf of our client, a manufacturer of IoT electronic equipment located in the North Suburbs. You would be joining a team of Project Managers that currently have 50+ open projects in various stages of development.

This role requires embedded software engineering experience in a product development/R&D environment where the software controls the functionality of a tangible product such as a car, a robot, a valve, a medical device, a cell phone, a machine system, etc.

**Job Scope:** You will report to the VP of Engineering. You will lead and manage embedded software and firmware projects from concept through prototype & production. This will include:

+ Working work with sales, marketing and customers to develop SOWs, plan reviews

+ Develop project schedule Gantt charts

+ Determine project contributors by required skill set and allocate appropriate resources both internally and with offshore team.

+ Ensure individual contributors adhere and meet project deadlines & deliverables. MS Project & Gantt Charts

You will leverage your knowledge of embedded software engineering (Python, Linux, C+, C#) to in order to properly distribute work. You will use MS Project & Gantt Charts to ensure team members stay on track and project timelines are met.

**Essential Responsibilities:**

+ Works closely with Business Development and marketing teams scoping, supporting business development opportunities

+ Work with and lead cross-functional internal and external teams (sales, circuit design, hardware engineers, test engineers, mechanical & electrical design, manufacturing and quality) for customer program success.

+ Manage offshore software programming resources.

+ Appropriate delegation of duties

+ Allocation of labor to specific skill set.

+ Allocate project responsibilities to appropriate internal software and firmware engineers.

+ Strong management skills, particularly to influence management and facilitate conflict resolution.

+ Ability to understand, track, drill-down and question activities and issues in all functional areas and make sound business decisions based upon that data.

+ Knowledge of marketing, marketing communications and product launch.

+ Hands-on strategic program management of both existing and new accounts with customers involved in consumer products, automotive, medical device, defense, aerospace and other upcoming industries that are looking to expand IoT offerings.

+ Accountable for developing and managing program schedules and deliverables for all programs within assigned accounts, as well as standard day to day program management activities.

+ Will manage and work in cooperation with engineering teams to come to an end product.

+ Challenges include customizing product to meet OEM requirements while maintaining product standards, integrity, serviceability and short cycle time.

+ Maintain detailed records of current and prospective customers, grow revenue within the current account base, identify market needs/trends along with recommendations for program improvements and development of new programs.

+ Responsible for implementing and complying with all ethical and legal compliance requirements.

+ Other duties & functions may be assigned to this position as needed.


+ Bachelors degree in Electrical or Software Engineering or related required.

+ 5 years (preferred minimum) of project management in a high technology product manufacturing or IoT product development environment.

+ Solid background and understanding of custom product and solution sales techniques.

+ Experience in transforming customer desires into technical requirements over extended lead and delivery-times.

+ Experience in the area of manufactured products is required.

+ Experience with the entire product development process and some working knowledge of the various engineering and design functions.

+ Product Development experience from the following industries will be considered helpful:

+ Defense, Public Safety, Medical, Rail, etc.

+ IoT systems

+ Product Software and/or Firmware

+ Proficiency and hands-on experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat; Microsoft Project.

+ Strong technical background with embedded software engineering C, C++ a hard requirement, experience Python, Linux, C# a plus.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

+ Strong presentation skills.

+ Solution and complex product sales experience.

+ History of managing accounts with annual sales volumes in excess of $5 million a plus.

+ Experience building strong business relationships at multiple levels of management.

+ General knowledge of project related finance/budgeting, including the ability to read and understand financial data.

+ Intimate knowledge of program management tools and procedures.

+ 10-25% travel within the U.S. and international locations will be required.

+ Working knowledge of ISO/9001/14000/13485 and AS9100 processes.
