**Employee and Labor Relations Specialist**


Kelly Government Solutions is hiring for an employee and labor relations specialist on a government contract with our customer in Sterling Heights, MI. This is a direct hire opportunity.

**Position Description:**

The selected candidate will provide proactive labor relations support to internal customers, deal directly with labor organizations across multiple sites throughout the United States and lead labor relations support to our Sterling Heights, MI Prototype Shop and Maintenance groups.

**Responsibilities of the position include the following:**

+ Support and coach management with respect to a wide variety of labor relations issues.

+ Provide support for negotiations, grievance handling, labor arbitrations, NLRB proceedings, contract administration, union campaigns and other labor relations activities.

+ Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with local union leadership in order to successfully resolve shop floor and contract administration issues.

+ Interpret policies and procedures and provide guidance in a consistent manner to managers, employees, and HR business partners.

+ Facilitate the resolution of complex employee concerns, including discipline when appropriate. Counsel management on corrective actions ensuring consistency and adherence to company policies.

+ Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.

+ Interact closely/positively with other HR representatives to achieve departmental goals and objectives in a team environment.

+ Report and analyze a variety of HR Metrics.

**Position Requirements:**

+ Must have bachelors degree, preferably in Business, Human Resources, or a related discipline; a masters degree and/or HR certification (PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) is preferred.

+ Ten (10) or more years of HR experience is preferred.

+ Must have significant experience dealing with labor unions and represented workforces, as well as a demonstrated proficiency in a wide variety of other HR competencies such as employee relations, performance management, training and development, organizational development, staffing, and compensation.

+ Must effectively portray professional, customer service oriented, and interpersonal skills and the ability to work at all levels of the organization.

+ Must be able to effectively balance the role of employee advocate and management adviser.

+ Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

+ Must have effective negotiation, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills.

+ Must have experience conducting employee investigations including proper documentation, interviewing witnesses, assessing situation, and providing recommendations with course of action as appropriate.

+ Must have the ability to build strong relationships with individual employees, union representatives and all levels of management.

+ Must possess strong consultative and coaching skills.

+ Must have excellent analytical, planning and problem-solving skills.

+ Must have demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, follow up on assigned projects and meet deadlines.

+ Must have excellent business acumen and be innovative and creative when resolving issues.

+ Must have strong organizational and prioritization skills.

+ Must have a high degree of integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

+ Must be proficient with HRIS and PC applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and applicant tracking systems. Knowledge of Peoplesoft is a plus.

+ Some travel may be required.
