Quality Engineering Co-op (Ottawa, Ohio)



Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Quality Engineering Co-Op opening to join our Ottawa Manufacturing organization. For this role, you will work with manufacturing operations and suppliers on containment of non-conforming material and establishing the root cause of quality issues that impact manufacturing. You will work with suppliers and other cross-functional teams to create quality plans, implement corrective actions, generate quality metrics, and continually improve quality systems. Also you will support Whirlpool quality and cost projects by attending product reviews, evaluating PPAP's, and working with other Whirlpool functions to ensure new parts and processes meet quality requirements prior to production.


This job function conducts the activities of manufacturing organizations to maintain and improve production quality. Activities include planning, managing and reviewing production operations to achieve output and quality objectives; and monitoring and maintaining machines and production equipment.


Your Day-to-Day

Project assignments will be focused in our World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodology and could be in areas such as:

Lead scrap reduction initiatives, including project scope and timeline development, problem solving with suppliers, establishing standardized solutions and implementing changes

Manage equipment / resource relocation projects within the Ottawa manufacturing organization which could include: redesign of current equipment or resources, and leading change management with impacted team members

Design, develop, review and conduct coordination for test programs or components, small systems or processes, or materials taking into account customers and quality requirements

Focus on quality initiatives across a plant including: increasing first pass yield, scrap reduction, etc.

Coordinate with business partners across functions, from Procurement and Supply Chain to Engineering

Learn and apply WCM Quality Control methodology and tools to project(s)

Background and Experience

Minimum Background and Experiences

Progress toward completing a B.S degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management

Sophomore standing or higher with minimum cumulative G.P.A of 3.0/4.0


Preferred Background and Experiences:

Demonstrated maturity and confidence to effectively present ideas and projects.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships in a culturally diverse environment.

Self-discipline and ability to manage competing priorities.

Proven decision-making skills and ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex business problems through innovation and creativity.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to lead and work with teams and achieve extraordinary results.



This is a full-time, Monday- Friday onsite position. Paid Internship, compensation plus support for living expenses provided. Client will work with candidate on duration.
