Kelly Services is currently seeking an Engineering Technician for one of our top clients in Hillsboro, OR.

Pay is $25-$27/hr and includes full benefits. This is an open ended contract.

+ Troubleshooting to the root cause of electronic circuits. Evaluate digital signal processing to repair failing servers/PC to a booting and functional condition.

+ Basic understanding of computer science PC/Server configurations.

+ Experienced with typical Server/PC operating systems particularly with setup and boot functions various Windows and DOS environments.

+ Experienced with typical firmware (BIOS, BMC, CPLD) programming tools and process.

+ Experience with Linux OS, and some applications.

+ Highly competent at reading and understanding schematics, assembly instructions, and understands standard electronic component symbols.

+ Use of high-speed Oscilloscopes and logic analyzers required.

+ Good soldering and electro-mechanical assembly skills. Comfortable use of most all common hand tools used in an electronics lab environment.

+ Fundamental understanding of; Windows file services, sharing, permissions and networks.

+ Good attention to detail particularly with; PBA rework activities, component/board tracking information and general documentation.

+ Experience with CAD applications, Allegro is primarily used here.

+ Experience with network maintenance and set up a plus.

+ Any software/scripting skills (particularly with Linux) are a big plus.

+ Competent with popular Microsoft Office suite products excel and Word are primary tools used.

+ Adapts well to changing requirements and/or priorities.

+ Is able to take direction from written and verbal instructions.


+ Own first and second level debug steps to repair malfunctioning printed circuit boards including failing Server/PC motherboards.

+ Execute test steps/plans from verbal and written instructions to verify Server/PC fundamental functionality.

+ Read schematics and board files to interpret component identification and placement for remove/replace actions.

+ Ability to create, duplicate and deploy HDD images for most Windows and Linux OS. Execute ghosting procedures routinely.

+ Disassembly and reassembly of Server/PCs. From replacement of general (HDD) to unique support components (specialty device heat sinks).

+ Automate manual test execution through script editing and/or creation.

+ Work with Design Engineering to troubleshoot to root cause failing platforms.

+ Maintain debug, rework and testing job results in tracking documents.

+ Data analysis of debug results for entry, organizing and concluding to assist identifying next steps and potential product enhancement recommendations.

+ Assist internal customers with debug steps verbally on the phone or through email to guide customer field repair efforts.

+ Modify PCBs to engineering specifications. Interpret schematics and relate to board files to tap into specific signals and evaluate.

+ Remove and replace surface mount (down to **0402** sizes) and through-hole components on PCBs.

+ **IT administration** Updating Server/PCs for required patches, new application revisions, adding user permissions.

+ Lab operations maintenance including: Execution of equipment maintenance procedures, equipment calibration scheduling, piece part and tools inventory maintenance, general cleanliness and safety configurations/protocols adherence.

+ Custom build solutions for interfaces at the board and system level.
