**Job Scope:**

The candidate will provide Process Containment Equipment (PCE) engineering support for plants and facilities in Midland, Michigan and the Business Aligned Sites. Support requirements will include a combination of capital, expense and plant support projects. Projects will include new equipment design and procurement, repair and alteration, and mechanical integrity evaluations. The candidate will apply leadership skills with technical knowledge in the design, procurement and assessment of PCE.

**Key responsibilities:**

1. Apply applicable design criteria, design tools, best practices, and established work processes when creating the documentation

required for the selection, purchase, and installation of process containment equipment.

2. Consult and provide engineering solutions for plant support needs, including internal registrations as well as repairs or alterations of in service PCE. Evaluate PCE record files in comparison to inspection reports and provide engineering recommendations.

3. Design and prepare procurement/inquiry documentation in support of capital and expense projects.

4. Work with engineers, designers, crafts, NDE technicians and plant personnel to support the assigned PCE engineering needs.

5. Work independently with little to no supervision to meet customer time constraints and commitments.

6. Delegate work to outside engineering resources to ensure customer expectations are met in a timely manner.

7. Prioritize work to keep plants operating safely with minimal downtime.

8. Provide technical consultation to plants and facilities in Midland Michigan and Business Aligned sites.

**Required Skills:**

1. Experience in the creation of PCE design and specification as well as technical interface with suppliers.

2. Understanding of Codes and standards governing the PCE discipline (ASME, API).

3. Complete understanding of Code calculation inputs and outputs.

4. Experience in reviewing and approving technical drawings and documents as they pertain to the design and evaluation of PCE.

5. Experience in the analysis/evaluation of existing process containment equipment.

6. Ability to effectively work with a wide variety of people including plant/business management, other engineers, crafts, NDE technicians and suppliers.

7. Experience working with diverse groups and cultures.

8. Ability to communicate well both orally and written.

9. Support construction and start-up stages of projects.

10. Ability to troubleshoot and support start-up of production facilities and in service equipment failures.

11. Use internal Most Effective Technology guidlines technical specification and reference.

12. Ability to learn new work processes and tools.

13. Willingness to work in a multi-discipline environment. Interaction and integration of work with other engineering disciplines is required.

14. Willingness to work in an atypical design environment utilizing unconventional design techniques and methods to resolve non-traditional, out-of-the-box problems.

15. Ability to multi-task and work on several projects concurrently.

16. Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a high pressure environments.

17. Self-starter, independent, ability to work with very little supervision, great work ethic, willingness to learn, take direction/instructions, and accept constructive criticism.

18. Willingness to ask questions for clarification and seek help when needed.

**Education and Experience:**

BS in Mechanical Engineering combined with a minimum of 2 years experience in the specification, design, repair/alteration and installation of pressure vessels, storage tanks, and heat exchangers. Knowledge of ASME, API, NBIC and other Codes and Standards applicable to the design, installation, repair and altering of pressure containment equipment.

**Additional Technical Skills/Knowledge (not necessary to have experience in each area):**

1. Solids Handling and Packaging

2. Fired Equipment (Boilers)

3. Heat Transfer Equipment

4. Mechanical Equipment Reliability

5. Stress Analysis (Pipe Stress and component stress)

6. FEA (Finite Element Analysis)

This role will primarily function in an office environment. Periodic field visits are required for repairs, new equipment and inspection of in-service equipment. General area PPE will be required for field visits. Climbing ladders and stairs is needed for role. Ability to wear a fall harness is needed for role.
