**EPIC Research Dataset Retrieval and Project Management Sacramento, CA**

**Remote until March 2021 and then onsite in Sacramento, CA**

**Direct Hire**


+ Work closely with researchers to define and extract cohort datasets from data mining of hospital electronic medical records.

+ Consult with various users (clinician, educator, and administrator) to determine the best methods for providing required information relevant to their projects.

+ Identify the process for code design and code testing.

+ Create and develop project schedules with milestones and resource requirements.

+ Serve as project leader as assigned.

+ Identify and list project objectives and development phases.

+ Identify activity dependencies and develop project activity schedule.

+ List major activities to be performed during each phase of the project development cycle

+ Estimate hours and level of effort needed to complete project.

+ Develop strategies for continuing to strengthen data management services, data mining, Analytics, and reporting opportunities.

+ Develop validation, performance, and acceptance criteria for extracted research datasets.

+ Create reports as necessary using appropriate reporting tools to be determined by incumbent.

+ Validate extracted dataset against requirements documents and research protocol. Modify and re-iterate as necessary.

+ Import and export data to and from external and internal systems following UCD security policy with PHI data.

+ Modify database code using a variety of programming tools, languages, and programs such as SQL, Stored Procedures, XML, Python, J2EE, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Shell script, and Excel.

+ Take ownership of documentation, management, and maintenance of projects and data delivered to customers.

+ Assist in application & system planning, procurement, installation, inventory control, and backup.

**Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:**


+ Minimum 2 years of experience in the analysis, retrieval, and management of clinical data from a healthcare software system.

+ Minimum of 1 year of experience working with standardized healthcare codes (e.g., ICD, CPT, LOINC, SNOMED)

+ Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL)

+ Working knowledge of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) applications.

+ Excellent analytical skills to develop and/or comprehend complex technical, clinical, research, and fiscal information; ability to absorb information to make timely and sound decisions.

+ Demonstrated experience translating customer requirements into technical specifications and documentation.

+ Excellent organizational skills to determine and prioritize workload to enable timely completion of tasks.

+ Identify and communicate problems in a collaborative, professional manner.

+ Ability to deal with highly confidential, secured, and financial matters; practical application of HIPAA and privacy rules a plus.

+ Comfortable working independently with minimal direction in a dynamic and diverse environment.

+ Experience with various office software tools such as Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.

+ Expertise with various programming languages and software such as SQL, Stored Procedures, XML, Python, J2EE, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Shell script, Excel, Tableau, Crystal Reports, and Business Objects.


+ Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Public Health, or Healthcare Administration.

+ Oracle and MS SQL Server experience

+ Clarity Data Model certification (e.g., Inpatient, ASAP, HIM, Ambulatory, Willow, and OpTime)

+ Caboodle Data Model experience

+ Prior experience with clinical research projects.

+ Familiarity with visualization/analytics tools (Business Objects, Tableau); ability to translate data into actionable information via graphical representations.

+ Data warehouse experience such as i2b2.
