**FILM AND PLASTICS LABORATORY TECHNICIAN**


**PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS**


+ Film Testing in the Products Technology Lab to include the following:

+ Support/assist the lab supervisors/chemists by performing routine and non-routine laboratory product testing, to support plant operations for the purpose of quality assurance/control.

+ Testing plastics - flow rates, compression molding, densities, film testing

+ Sets up, operates and maintains laboratory instruments, monitors experiments, makes observations, calculates and records results, and often develops conclusions.

+ Operates and maintains analytical and physical properties testing equipment

+ Perform calibration and maintenance of test equipment.

+ Interfaces with internal customers on a daily basis

+ Collaboration with different service providers and manufacturing sites

+ Ensures data reliability through adherence to quality objectives and develops all method support documentation

+ Prepares and tests samples by following detailed ASTM methods to provide high quality data

+ Calculates and analyzes data

+ Loads data to the work order management system for review by Ph. D. Scientists and Engineers

+ Efficiently manages their work request backlog and turnaround time

+ Performs internal calibrations and monitoring SQC charts for quality compliance

+ Manages sample/raw material inventory, handling, shipping, storage, and disposal

+ Recording data, perform reviews, and summaries on testing data


**JOB REQUIREMENTS**


+ A Bachelors degree in Chemistry, science discipline, or relevant equivalent work experience

+ Capable of safe, reliable, and independent laboratory work given review of literature, framing of problem, and regular direction.

+ Ability to learn new techniques as needed.

+ Ability to read and follow detailed instructions.

+ Strong problem solving skills.

+ Concern for accuracy and precision.

+ Good proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite

+ Strong knowledge of Excel

+ Excellent communication (written/oral) and interpersonal skills.

+ Ability to efficiently manage different stakeholder requirements and co-ordinate project contributions from multiple sources
