**Financial Accounting Specialist**

**Detroit, MI (Hybrid)**

**Contract to Hire**

**$42 - $45/hr**


Kelly Services has recently re-partnered with our top banking customer, located in Downtown Detroit. They are currently seeking a temporary to hire candidate to join the Accounting team, to help with duties such as accruals, pre payments and general accounting. **Training is provided and you may work from home 3 days a week!**


The ideal candidate will have strong MS Excel skills, general accounting knowledge and the eagerness to learn. Someone with an Accounting Clerk role or internship would fit in great!



Position Responsibilities:


+ Assist the Accounting Manager with the review of general ledger entries and monthly balance sheet and DDA account reconciliations.

+ Liaison to various departments (Technology & Operations, Real Estate, etc.) on accruals and review supporting accrual schedules provided for compliance with accounting standards prior to recognition in GL.

+ Support the Accounting Manager in establishing and maintaining a monthly financial close schedule to ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely to the general ledger.

+ Analyze net interest margin yields and noninterest income accounts to ensure the accuracy of data recorded in the general ledger.

+ Assist the General Books team with preparation and evaluation of entries related to securities trading and principle investing activities.

+ Prepare analyses for card revenues and related outside processing expenses.

+ Liaison with Business Finance and Fixed Assets teams to improve evaluation and analysis of project activities impacting contract labor and outside processing spend.

+ Collaborate with FP&A team on corporate overhead analysis.

+ Review the reconcilement of intercompany accounts and related settlement activities.

+ Preparation of certain monthly and quarterly financial statement variance reports for executive management.

+ Interact with the HR department and assist in reviewing the maintenance and accurate accounting for payroll and employee benefits (medical, dental, 401k, pension, etc.).

+ Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis to Accounting management and various areas of the bank as needed.

+ Provide relevant information to management and regulators in accordance with monthly, quarterly and annual closing and reporting deadlines.

+ Collaboration as necessary with the Accounting Systems Manager in projects related to effective design and implementation of Accounting's financial systems.

+ Support departmental continuous process improvement by identifying inefficiencies in workflow and implementation of new/improved processes and procedures.

+ Monitor and execute internal control objectives over areas of responsibility and ensure internal controls are re-evaluated as appropriate based on changes in processes/procedures.

+ Review and update accounting processes and procedure manuals as a result of system and process changes.

+ Support internal and external auditors and corporate tax on SOX, internal/external and compliance audits.

+ Lead Control Account Summary (CAS) efforts as a liaison to managers across the Bank in ensuring required reconciliations are prepared timely and prepare formal quarterly reporting to executive management.

+ Participate in the cross-training of team members and knowledge sharing with others as needed within accounting and finance function.

+ Pursue and recommend process improvements related to earnings and accruals processes, accounting policies and procedures.


Position Qualifications


+ Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance (preferred)

+ Strong MS Excel (pivot tables, vlookups)

+ Attention to detail
