Our client, an American manufacturer of electrical wiring equipment, is currently adding a Software Engineer to their staff. This position is a Direct Hire role. The right candidate for this role will have at least 3-5 years experience in embedded system programming, and experience in embedded programming using C/C++ and with embedded microcontrollers (ST Micro).


Overview:

This position is responsible for writing C/C++ code for the real time micro-controller-based instrumentation systems and will conduct research and development activities concerned with design, manufacture and test of electronic components, products, and systems. This position is on-site.


Responsibilities:

Analyze marketing and engineering data to determine software feasibility of product proposal.

Coordinate with project management to clarify or resolve problems and develop efficient coded designs.

Develop technical specification and identify test requirements for products.

Prepare product or system software, block diagrams and object code utilizing engineering group input.

Participate as needed to fabricate engineering prototype.

Implement process improvements to decrease time to market of new and existing products.

Provide mentorship to peers and support an open work environment where all input is received and valued.


Qualifications:

Education & Experience.

BSEE/BSCS required; MSEE/MSCS preferred.

3-5 years experience in embedded system programming.

Experience in embedded programming using C/C++ and with embedded microcontrollers (ST Micro).

Experience developing in source control environment.


Skills & Abilities:

Strong knowledge of C / C++ and knowledge of assembly language.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Familiarity with IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM.

Familiarity with bus protocols such I2C, SPI, RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet.

Knowledge of communication protocols such as Modbus, Wi-Fi, 802.15.4/ZigBee, TCP/IP and/or Bluetooth a plus.

Must be motived and creative, with the ability to design a variety of new products from concept through production release.

Must have the ability to provide cost effective designs using an efficient, effective design process.

Makes modifications to or upgrades existing firmware designs via patches and generating new code

Must have the ability to read and understand electrical schematics.

Must be comfortable using lab equipment and tools such as debuggers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.


This role is directly involved in developing innovative products embedding intelligence into electrical wiring devices. You will be a part of a team on the forefront of expanding our reach into the industrial internet of things and smart devices.
