Kelly Services is actively recruiting for a Food Safety Manager to work a contract assignment in Clark, NJ.



The duration is approximately 6 months, with possibility of extension.



**Job Duties of the Food Safety Manager includes:**




+ **Food Safety** : Oversee site Food Safety program. Oversee site sanitation function within the facility. Respond to customer complaints and queries. Manage site environmental management program. Report KPIs and implement sustainable corrective actions. Liaison and facilitation of site regulatory and customer audits. Ensure effective food safety compliance and work with plant management team to implement programs to mitigate risk. Manage and lead HACCP program and team at site level, ensuring that Good Manufacturing Practices, preventive controls and prerequisite programs are in place and effective. Manage the plant Food Safety & Quality System to produce safe quality food, acting as SQF Practitioner or equivalent GFSI manager (BRC, FS22000).

+ **Compliance:** Enforce standards in the areas of sanitation/GMP/pest control, and food safety compliance. Ensure that the products released are compliant and safe foods. Be one of the key point persons at the site for regulatory inspections (FDA/CFIA), identify preserved (ie, organic, kosher) and customer audits.

+ **Quality Improvement** : Track, report and review. Develop and lead the plant Food Safety Improvement Plan. Partner cross-functionally in quality and process improvement.

+ **Customer Satisfaction:** Be proactive and responsive in addressing customer complaints, communicating effectively on technical issues and leading the root cause analysis. Develop and verify corrective actions.

+ **Managerial Responsibilities:** Develop and maintain food safety and sanitation staff through training, communication, and accountability. This involves recruitment, organizational development, personnel assessment, training, direction and motivation. Manage the department within budget and utilize resources effectively to meet needs of the business on a timely basis.

+ **Technical Skills:** Continuously improve knowledge of products and technology to investigate variation and resolve technical problems with the team. Apply a scientific approach with statistical analysis to data and problem solving. Act as the primary technical liaison with customers, vendors and regulatory agencies.



**Requirements of the Food Safety Manager includes:**




+ Minimum of Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or similar Science/Engineering.

+ Knowledge and experience with relevant GFSI standards such as SQF, BRC, IFS or FS 22000. Knowledge and understanding of Food Safety regulations, FSMA, and industry and market trends. Experience and knowledge of quality management systems, GFSI audit standards, SSOPs, Environmental hygiene programs, prerequisite programs and HACCP.

+ Minimum of 4-10 years of Food Safety Quality experience including managing quality and food safety systems.

+ Experience in plant manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

+ Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with a variety of stakeholders.

+ Effectively organize and manage numerous work tasks of a diverse nature.

+ Strong Computer Skills (Microsoft Office)

+ Communication and interpersonal skills.

+ Team leadership and development.

+ Skills in customer relations.

+ Analytical and problem solving skills.
