**Job Description**


If you are an experienced Manager in the food industry we are looking for you!


This supervisory position ensures day-to-day operation of cafeteria. Duties involve preparing, distributing and purchasing food for the Head Start/Early Head Start/Pre-K classrooms according to a planned menu and following CACFP/USDA regulations.


1. Follows Head Start Performance Standards, CACFP, licensing rules and regulations, and Health Department regulations in all aspects.

2. Maintains an Environmental Rating Score of no less than 90 out of 100.

3. Attends and participates in staff meetings/trainings and meets requirement for trainings as outlined in licensing regulations.

4. Prepares menus according to CACFP/USDA guidelines.

5. Prepares age appropriate and nutritious breakfasts, lunches, and snacks for all children following a dietician consultant approved menu using food production reports.

6. Distributes food following appropriate CACFP meal patterns according to the number of children served daily at breakfast and lunch times.

7. Inspects, orders, receives, stores, maintains and records all food and milk supplies; ensures that overstocking does not occur. Utilizes perishables to the maximum extent possible.

8. Supervises food service staff and cross trains in all areas.

9. Prepares and submits monthly and/or weekly:

- Monthly Menus.

- Check off calendar.

- Obligated purchase orders for Mayfield, Haney, Wal-Mart, etc.

10. Completes inventory according to the USDA instructions.

11. Completes a food cost comparison worksheet for supplies.

12. Submits work order for maintenance or repairs as per federal and state standards.

13. Provides ongoing training on Nutrition & Food Safety for Staff.

14. Ensures cleaning solutions and maintenance equipment are properly stored and used.

15. Ensures that the most current inspection report and all required CACFP/USDA posters are posted at all times.

17. Completes center-wide fire/tornado drills and emergency lighting checks monthly and submits documentation to Health/Nutrition Manager.

18. Keeps accurate count of meals and compares with the teachers attendance.

19. Cleans kitchen utensils, equipment, and kitchen area; ensures that sanitary conditions established by the Health Department are maintained at all times.

20. Monitors food service staff to ensure floors are cleaned in an appropriate manner, i.e., sweep, mop, and scrub uncarpeted area.

**Requirements**


Minimum qualifications for position include passing a physical,

-TB screening, background check and a pre-hire drug screening prior to employment.

-Must be computer literate.

-Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

-Must be able to read and understand simple written instructions, such as recipes, cooking guides, etc., in preparing large quantities of food for EHS/HS/Pre-K children.

-Must have at least 6 to 12 months of work experience in a commercial-type kitchen or equivalent formal training. Some experience in handling and preparing food from a planned menu is desirable.
