We are currently seeking a Genetic Analyst to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

**TASKS.** The contractor shall:




+ Collaborate with staff on advancing the understanding of how genetic changes influence the risk of developing complex neurodegenerative diseases, such as Lewy body dementia, Parkinsons disease, and frontotemporal dementia.

+ Work with staff to use genetic knowledge for the development of novel ancillary diagnostic tools and apply modern gene discovery technologies, including genome-wide association testing, genome sequencing, and genomic data integration.

+ Provide data science services for the analysis of genetic data in neurodegenerative diseases.

+ Perform analyses of genomic data to support a variety of bioinformatic research projects and demonstrate critical-thinking skills to interpret large genomic data sets.

+ Apply commonly used analytical gene discovery techniques, including but not limited to genome-wide association testing, gene burden analysis, machine learning applications, cross-phenotype genetic analyses, and multi-omic data integration.

+ Share scientific information, through the writing of scientific manuscripts, mentoring of team members and oral presentations of data at seminars and conferences.





**REQUIREMENTS.** The contractor must have:




+ Masters degree in computer science, engineering or a relevant life science discipline.

+ Minimum of two (2) years of related experience.

+ Experience with classical statistics

+ Knowledge and demonstrated experience in analyzing next-generation genomic data

+ Knowledge and experience in bioinformatic programming using Linux, R, Python

+ Ability to analyze large GWAS and next-generation sequence data sets

+ Familiarity with computer clusters and cloud-based computing.

+ Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills

+ Strong communication and presentation skills, both oral and written

+ Ability to work as part of a team.
