**Global Paint Quality Assurance Inspector**


SUMMARY


Provide discipline-specific technical support and consultation to assigned projects under the general direction of MSA. Ensure that contractor applications are compliant with assigned specifications and applicable rules and regulations. Interface with multiple contract companies about the mechanical integrity of the coating.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.


+ Follows safety requirements and expectations

+ Demonstrates model behavior in the application and appropriately reinforces behaviors in the field.

+ Communicates with Contract Administrator, Contractor Safety, Superintendents and Foremen

+ Provide discipline-specific technical support and consultation to assigned projects.

+ Responsible for daily audits for adherence to Global Specifications and the Global Paint Program

+ Provides data to the Contract Administrator to enable him/her to maintain detail knowledge of all Inscope work.

+ Attends Pre Job conferences

+ Daily documentation of field audits


QUALIFICATIONS


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.


+ Knowledge of the assigned discipline specifications and standard practices of Coating Applications

+ Competency in field application of abrasive blasting and industrial coatings

+ Leadership capability and above average communication skills both written and verbal.

+ Conflict resolution skills to achieve timely and constructive solutions to personal and technical differences.

+ Demonstration of the ability to solve problems and make competent decisions.

+ In-depth knowledge of local, state and governmental laws and regulations

+ Ability to assess productive and safe performance of all contract workers


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


5 years coating application experience


National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) 1 certification


Knowledge of Steel Structure Painting Council (SSPC) standards


LANGUAGE SKILLS


Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondences. Ability to write correspondence and effectively communicate. Ability to read and comprehend written project specifications, manufactures recommendations and MSDS sheets.


COMPUTER SKILLS


Must demonstrate proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office tools.


Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.

REASONING ABILITY


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished orally or in writing as well as facilitate problem solving involving several variables in abrasive blasting or coating applications.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to feel or handle objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The employee must be able to climb permanent scaffolds, ladders, climb in the pipe rack and operate a Aerial Lift.


Typical environments have many obstructions/challenges related to the routine task of walking. These challenges include, but are not limited to, uneven work surfaces, mud and obstructions on the ground, etc. The employee must be able to safely walk and maneuver around these obstructions/challenges.


WORK ENVIRONMENT


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.


The employee is expected to perform his/her duties mostly in the field environment. He/she is expected to spend at least 80% of the work day in the field. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions that are hot and humid and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is high to moderate.
