**Hours:** 8am – 5pm

**Job Scope:** The incumbent will be responsible for collating toxicological data for chemical ingredients, and assisting with the conduct and authorship of chemical and ingredient hazard assessments for components used in a range of consumer and personal care products through review of scientific literature and toxicity safety data.

The incumbent is expected to apply specialized scientific knowledge, be self-motivated and be able to work independently on assigned projects. The incumbent is expected to differentiate scientifically credible data from questionable data when developing assessments, and will be expected to identify, develop and implement testing plans to address data gaps.


1. Degree in toxicology, industrial hygiene, life sciences or related field relevant to environmental health and safety:

• Bachelor’s degree with 1-3+ years of experience, or

• Master’s degree with 0-2+ years of relevant experience

2. Knowledgeable of global chemical inventories and chemical classification according to GHS. Experienced in conducting research of available toxicological data on an ingredient using on-line databases and other sources of information.

3. Strong interpersonal communication and technical writing skills with demonstrated proficiency working effectively with technical staff from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Must be an effective communicator in oral and written correspondences as well as presentation formats.

**Principal Responsibilities:**

1. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently manage multiple tasks in a cross-functional business, academic or professional setting.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

1. Knowledge of industry, scientific safety and risk assessment practices, principles and procedures. Knowledge and understanding of toxicological testing.

2. Demonstrated proficiency work

3. Engage CLIENT’S suppliers and/or test laboratories in order to obtain full material disclosures, ingredient toxicity data, certifications, compliance to Client’s standards, other required information and/or additional test data for safety evaluation, regulatory registration or notification programs. Provide data entry services to create and maintain product safety, regulatory, toxicology and chemical compliance databases on substances, raw materials and products within the Client’s portfolio. Create output reports as needed.

4. Conduct searches of published literature, databases, or generated data to identify relevant and reliable toxicological data on product ingredients. Analyze and enter technical data into Product Safety & Regulatory databases.

5. Provides product safety support for the technical evaluation and the safety hazard assessment of ingredients and raw materials. Collaboratively identifies and solves technical, chemical-of-concern, and/or regulatory toxicology compliance problems that may impact Client’s products, brand equity or reputation globally.

6. Assist with the documentation and authorship of ingredient and component hazard assessments that support human health safety risk assessments, taking into consideration identified hazard, user or patient exposure according to intended product use or foreseeable misuse.

7. Conduct her or himself in accordance with expected Client’s leadership behaviors and corporate policies and procedures with an expectation to maintain and enhance their technical, professional, leadership and communication skills through professional development and participation in scientific conferences and meetings, publication of appropriate work in peer-reviewed journals and other aspects of technical and leadership development.
