HVAC Technician

**This a full-time direct hire position. The pay rate is between $25/hr to $35/hr based on years of experience.**

Under general supervision, the HVACR Tech independently overhauls, troubleshoots and repairs refrigeration systems, machinery, equipment and the facility at large, as well as installing new equipment.

The HVACR Tech shall be required to perform work in one or more of the following areas: component preparation, compounding, filling, capping, packaging, machine shop, warehouse, laboratories, offices, and other facility areas. When working in a production environment, the HVACR Tech will work with the area Production Supervisor to determine work/repair priorities that may impact their operation.

Major Position Activities & Responsibilities:

Performs preventive maintenance and repairs to HVACR equipment in accordance with all EPA guidelines.

Installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains complex machinery and equipment.

Overhauls machinery and equipment by disassembling, replacing worn or broken parts, reassembling and testing at completion.

Re-designs mechanical systems to improve performance.

Reads and interprets blueprints as well as "red line" performed modifications.

Assists Management in development of Standard Operating Procedures

Presents productivity, cost savings and safety improvement ideas.

Assists Management in development of work related systems and programs.

Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

As a part of the employees job requirements, the employee may be required to handle wastes including hazardous wastes. The employee must attend mandatory annual hazardous waste training meeting(s) and show a competency in that training by passing test(s) administered by the company or consultant providing such training.

Background Qualifications:

Two years of trade or technical schooling in HVAC-R classes

Eight years or more experience in maintenance, four of which must have been in the

Refrigeration/HVAC in an industrial setting.

Prefer two years of experience in pharmaceuticals or other GMP regulated industry.

(An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted)

Must have EPA Universal refrigerant certification

Knowledge of low temp or other industrial refrigeration systems is required.

Must be proficient in maintaining documentation.

Must pass full face respirator fit testing as part of pre-employment screening.

Must be able to interpret drawings and schematics.

Must have good written and verbal skills. Page 2 of 2 JD-10005-01

Requires manual dexterity, physical agility and the ability to lift up to 60 lbs. Must be able to use hand and power tools. Incumbents will be required to work in sterile areas.
