Kelly FSP Science and Clinical is currently seeking a In Vivo Scientist for a long-term engagement with one of our Global Pharmaceutical clients in Spring House, PA. This position will be onsite at least 3 days a week.


This person will join our Kelly FSP (Functional Service Provider) division, a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc. Research Associate I/ in vivo


The Research Associate I must be experienced with small and large animal handling and be proficient in basic laboratory skills. He/she would plan and execute in vivo studies in support of bacterial vaccine R&D utilizing a variety of laboratory animals per the companys Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee guidelines. He/she should be able to perform daily routine tasks efficiently and accurately and is willing to learn new techniques.


**Key responsibilities:**


+ Responsible for interpreting data and suggesting experimental designs for experiments

+ Dosing and infection by various routes of administration, bleeding (interim and terminal) and harvesting of tissues for bacterial quantitation

+ Calculating study endpoints, summarizing, and recording data, and reporting of results would be required. In addition to having strong in vivo skills, the candidate would ideally possess basic in vitro laboratory skills encompassing microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and immunology


**Qualifications:**


Required:


+ Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree is required. Prefer a degree in Biology or Animal Science

+ Minimum of 1+ years of animal dosing and bleeding experience is required

+ Hands-on experience with animal studies (including large animals) in a vivarium setting is required _(The animal research facility, also known as the vivarium, is a specially designed building type, which accommodates exquisitely controlled environments for the care and maintenance of experimental animals. Animal research facilities are related to but distinct from research laboratories)_

+ Excellent computer, verbal, and written communication skills are required

+ Works well in a Team environment, but can execute studies independently is required


Preferred:


+ Pharmaceutical Drug Discovery Industry experience is preferred

+ Experience with large animal anesthesia and monitoring is preferred

+ Experience with placing temperature transponders, urinary catheters, IV catheters, and intubation tubes in large animals is preferred

+ A current understanding of basic animal models of infection is preferred

+ Experience in basic in vitro laboratory skills (microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and immunology) is preferred

+ Experience with vaccine development including immunological assays is preferred

+ May require up to 10% domestic/international travel
