**Job Description**


We are currently seeking Paraprofessionals to work at Charter and Private Schools in Los Angeles, especially in the Alhambra area! JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under supervision of the Program Supervisor and leadership of the Youth Specialist plan, lead, and supervise a group of 20-25 children, grades Kindergarten through 8th, in enrichment activities (in sports, art, science, literacy, and math) and homework; demonstrate the ability to act responsibly and independently, be aware of safety concerns and protect children accordingly; must be able to relate well with children and adults and be able to motivate children to participate in the planned activities; perform related duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE OF:


- General needs and behavior of children ages 5 to 14.

- Basic concepts of child development and behavior, and behavior intervention and modification (classroom management)

- Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.

- Phonics and basic reading principles.

- General safety practices.

- Conflict resolution techniques.

- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.


ABILITY TO:


- Develop and maintain effective relationships with children and adults.

- Work with students and motivate them to participate in learning activities.

- Develop and maintain effective relationships with children and adults.

- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.

**Requirements**


- Graduation from High School or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency.

- Completion of two years of higher education (48 semester units) or possession of an Associate-s or higher degree.

- Tuberculosis Testing Results

- CPR Certification or willingness to obtain


Candidates are required to provide a copy of High School Diploma or G.E.D. AND college transcripts (indicating a minimum of 48 semester units) to be considered for this position.


DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

Six months to one year experience working with school-age children in an organized setting.
