Client in Wilmington, Massachusetts is currently hiring for an Instrument & Electrical Technician, confident in their skills and proficiency to maintain and improve electrical systems, control systems and instrumentation.



This position is a Direct Hire, First Shift role.



Summary:

An I&E Technician needed with communication skills to interact with manufacturing operation to determine the needs and the requirements clearly, and also, who has the capacity to solve problems and deliver results in a timely and safe fashion. The technician should have some familiarity and experience in Electrical Standards and be willing to continue to update their knowledge of this field.


The Instrument & Electrical Technician will be responsible for following electrical equipment:

High Voltage systems, including incoming power service (12.47 kV), transformers, generators (Work can be outsourced as necessary), Electrical circuits from 24VDC to 480VAC 3-Phase and also from control circuits to lighting circuits to motor circuits, Control systems, including PLCs and other various independent controllers, and Instrumentation equipment such as thermocouples, pressure sensors, level sensor, flow meters, switches, transmitters, valves and actuators.


Responsibilities:

Responsible for the following duties to be performed on the equipment:

Maintenance-

Respond to emergency work order requests from manufacturing to address electrical equipment issues, ranging from power equipment to instruments and controls equipment.

Troubleshoot and implement corrective action safely and efficiently.

Perform routine preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, instruments and controls to increase the reliability of the manufacturing operation.



Installation and Commissioning of New Electrical Equipment-

Support electrical equipment installation during capital projects to increase manufacturing capabilities.

Coordinate electrical work during capital jobs with other crafts operating in the same area, internally and externally.

Ensuring the proper documentation and procedures have been established, including PM frequency, calibration Standard Operating Procedure, maintenance SOP and operation SOP.


Continuous Improvement-

Responsible for contributing to the continuous improvement of the Electrical Safety Program.

Assist in developing and improving internal standards regarding electrical installation, maintenance, and safety.

Assist in teaching other internal personnel on these standards and skillset.

Assist in evaluating outside resources regarding their quality of work and adhering to standards of safety.


Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years experience with diploma from accredited Technical School or military electrical/electronic training or a minimum 6 years field experience in manufacturing environment without a degree.

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).

An Associate degree in Electrical or Instrumentation OR 4+ years of military experience with Instrument or Electrical experience is preferred.

Working knowledge of process instrumentation, motors, electrical circuits and electrical distribution.

Ability to interpret schematic drawings of pneumatic loops, hardware relay logic diagrams, PLC control programs, motor control circuit diagrams, etc.

Ability to associate circuit symbols with actual components to include solid state electronics (transistors, integrated chips, resistors, capacitors, etc.) and common industrial electrical hardware (relays, contactors, starters, etc.).

Have good mathematical skills for calculation of electrical/electronic equations.

Ability to install electrical conduit of the various trade size (pvc, emt, rigid) and install instrumentation tubing.

Demonstration of excellent troubleshooting skills and continuous improvement mindset.

Possess the following cognitive skills: perception, memory, judgment, reasoning, disseminating, discerning and troubleshooting/problem-solving.

Utilizes data to make decisions.

Use of computers and all usual office equipment with a working knowledge of Office software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
