**Duration:** 1 year with possible extension



**Pay rate: $20/hr**



**Hours: During the initial training about a month or so, it will be 7:00am-3:30am Mon-Fri as the trainer works from 6:00am. After training, 8/9am start for 8.5 hours with 30 min unpaid lunch time. Possible OT. No weekend work**



**Interview - WebEx with Camera on first. Then selected person will have in-person interview.**



_This is an entry level position. The HM is open for no degree with exp or recent college graduate with any scientific majors. This role is hands on analysis on precious metal containing samples. Heavy use of instruments. Not R&D. Instrument determinations using Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), LECOC Carbon/Sulfur/Oxygen/Nitrogen. - must be detail oriented and have strong safety awareness. - must be able to work well in a team. - All PPEs will be provided. - Medical required for platinum and drug test_



**Instrument Operator Union Precious Metals Assay Lab**

BACKGROUND:


A temporary scientist in the Union Assay Laboratory at BASF Corporation will be responsible for the on-time execution of analytical requests in precious metals analysis, providing direct analytical support to BASF businesses.

Expected to handle multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced analytical chemistry laboratory.

The incumbent must work well both independently and as a team member, assisting in other areas if necessary.

They must have excellent laboratory skills, including detailed record keeping and knowledge of safe handling of chemicals and equipment.

Background in elemental analysis or analytical chemistry is preferred.



MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:


Instrument determinations using Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), LECO Carbon/Sulfur/Oxygen/Nitrogen

Assist senior chemists and other chemists where needed (instrument setup, sample prep, etc)

Ensuring safety and quality in the laboratory



POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


A.S. Chemistry or related field plus 0-3 years relevant experience, B.S. Chemistry or related field plus 0-3 years relevant experience

Hands-on experience in elemental analysis

Ability to effectively work on diverse teams and to actively participate in collaborative efforts.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills


MEDICAL REQUIREMENT: Platinum
