**Kelly Engineering** is currently recruiting for a **(Direct Hire) (Junior Design Engineer)** job located in **Sterling, VA.**

**Job Duties:**

+ Work under the supervision of Senior level engineers

+ Provide design support in producing deliverables, contract documents, design calculations and analysis, and assisting lead building mechanical engineers in a team environment

+ Perform design and technical writing for pre-design deliverables

+ May conduct product testing or site surveys and make recommendations for design

+ Maintain SOLIDWORKS PDM library

+ Prepare mechanical drawings for various types of products

+ Assist in the technical execution of projects to provide engineering support

+ Assist with the implementation of existing technologies on a project level to meet project objectives

+ Use a disciplined approach and multiple methodologies to assist in analysis and determination of preferred solutions to technical challenges

+ Compile test results to provide data for use in solving problems

+ Collaborate with Engineers to develop optimal product test plans

**Basic Skills:**

+ Ability to learn, adapt, and work as a member of a fast-paced team

+ Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication to effectively communicate with senior program leadership and functional leadership, and within a virtual team environment

+ Strong knowledge of MS Office

+ Knowledge of Design Thinking methods

+ Ability to be a self-starter

+ Ability to prioritize work load, meet deadlines, and balance speed and quality successfully to ensure the best outputs in the desired timeline

+ Understanding and wide application of complex Electro-mechanical/Optical Final Assembly, Integration and Test methods

+ Highly skilled at interpretation of Engineering specifications and the translation into effective Work Instructions

+ Data Entry/Data Management/Administrative skills

+ Understands the principles of basic surfacing to ensure exposure to master, skeleton, and kinematic models

+ Supports Moldflow and finite element analysis (FEA) with guidance to deliver a robust engineering design

+ Develops computer aided design (CAD) models based on industrial design intent to transform concepts into manufactural specifications

+ Demonstrates fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes and materials to ensure designs are specified as best cost

+ Participates in brainstorm activities to push the limits on product design while maintaining product integrity

+ Demonstrates basic understanding of manufacturing tolerances and ability to apply nominal tolerances to CAD objects

+ Uses rapid prototyping to validate design concepts

+ Demonstrates familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) to ensure a smooth transition between design and manufacturing

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ 2+ years experience with AutoCAD

+ 2+ years experience with SOLIDWORKS

+ 2+ years experience with PDM

+ 2+ years experience within the manufacturing environment

+ Bachelors Degree in Engineering related field (Mechanical/Manufacturing/Electrical preferred)
