We are currently seeking a **Laboratory Manager** to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

This is a long-term contract position which offers:

TASKS. The contractor shall:

+ Maintain and accurately complete laboratory logs (including those of cell lines, bacterial cultures, DNA/RNAs and proteins/enzymes).

+ Manage inventory and procure laboratory supplies, reagents and equipment when needed (billing paperwork is collected and organized).

+ Perform laboratory procedures (i.e., gel electrophoresis, enzymatic assays, culturing of eukaryotic or bacterial cells, preparation of tissue lysates, animal sample collection, etc.).

+ Independently assess and utilize methods and/or procedures for use in laboratory experiments.

+ Make modifications and improvements in laboratory methods/procedures to meet specific needs or experimental situations, including:

+ Develop or obtain novel assays and methodologies as needed for the planned fundamental and translational research

+ Human coagulation assay development

+ Perform flow cytometry and ELISA and fluorescence microscopy

+ Buffer solution preparation

+ Develop and perform mouse model studies for the project

+ Operate and maintain electronic systems in the lab.

+ Perform instrument quality control to ensure user satisfaction.

+ Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, including required documentation.

+ Generate, process and analyze datasets to be included in scientific reports

+ Participate in the writing and preparation of scientific manuscripts.

+ Maintain log of laboratory safety compliance; ensure that regulations are being followed.

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:

+ Masters degree in molecular, cell or developmental biology or a related discipline; three (3) years of specialized experience plus a Bachelors degree is equivalent to a Masters degree with a minimum of two years of experience in working with mammalian cells.

+ Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a research laboratory environment.

+ Experience with stem cell biology, and animal models is highly preferred.

+ Proficiency in the operation of computer and general data acquisition programs.

+ Strong communications skills, both oral and written.

+ Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.

+ Dynamic personality with a high level of interpersonal skills in order to deal effectively with staff at all levels of an organization.

+ Detail-oriented in lab work and record-keeping.
