**Lab Operations Specialist North Lake Region in Seattle, WA**

This position will be overseeing the Lab Operations team and be engaged in supporting research needs for multiple labs. The position also involves helping create, improve, and implement lab-wide organizational systems. The individual will be expected to have extensive experience working in a research or academic lab setting, be comfortable with basic lab equipment troubleshooting, and have a keen eye for details.

This position is ideal for someone who wants to enter a career in lab management. The position requires the ability to work as a team member and to assist other laboratory personnel as needed. The position requires excellent organizational skills and meticulous laboratory record keeping. Effective communication skills are crucial in coordinating with research and production scientists, in providing status updates, and in raising quality and troubleshooting issues as they may arise.

Act as Lab Operations Team Lead and support lab-wide organizational efforts.

+ Schedule lab aide and lab technician task assignments/workloads and communicate with managers from different teams.

+ Help develop, streamline, and oversee internal training programs for lab technicians and lab aides, conducting new and ongoing training for team members.

+ Serve as mentor and resource to junior team members.

+ Help with Lab Operations protocol development and editing.

+ Process/workflow optimization [e.g. Develop and implement inventory tracking processes for consumables and reagents].

+ Perform Lab Operations quality control checks for media and solutions and develop additional QC checks.

+ Support lab-wide organizational efforts, equipment maintenance, ordering, and lab safety compliance.

+ Assist with inventory upkeep, organizing, and filing of lab-wide chemicals, reagents, and lab equipment.

+ Help build and oversee internal preventative maintenance program of lab equipment.

+ Assist with basic lab equipment troubleshooting, including coordinating and scheduling on-site service visits as needed.

+ Assist with ordering consumables, coordinating with the Finance team for approvals, and facilitate follow-ups with sales vendors as needed.

+ Assist with safety compliance requirements, such as upkeep of chemical inventory, SDS library, hazardous waste storage and disposal.


+ BA/BS degree in biochemistry, cell biology, biotechnology, or related field of study.

+ Minimum of five years experience in Life Sciences: Lab, Quality, Supply Chain or related area.

+ Experience in aseptic technique.

+ General molecular biology skills, such cloning, DNA isolation, PCR.

+ Previous experience with training junior team members.

+ Previous experience with lab safety programs preferred.

Physical Requirements:

+ Sit for extended periods of time (2 or more hours).

+ Occasionally lift or carry up to 20 kg.
