Kelly is hiring a **Lab Technician** for one of our clients in **Rochester, MN.**

+ Pay: $20/hr

+ 1st shift M-F 8am-4:30pm

+ 1 year contract

Job Description:

To perform Bread laboratory functions for the Rochester Plant Production process to ensure blends are prescribed, tested resulted and communicated in an expedited manner. Perform and/or interpret QC analytical data to develop blends for the production floor. Maintain inventory control systems for incoming materials such as bread making supplies. Ensure that laboratory procedures, methods, and practices are carried out as defined in the Quality System at Kerry, Rochester, MN. Participates in or leads various Quality programs including but not limited to GMP inspections, calibrations, new product introductions, equipment performance and maintenance, allergen, Food Safety and Quality programs, SAP, and other as needed. Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure the highest quality service.

Major Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

1. Develop mock blends for testing in the bread lab.

2. Bake mock blends and ensure sensory is performed.

3. Performs, interprets and evaluates results, communicate outcomes, develops strategies to correct (rework blends as needed)

4. Must be able to lift 50 lb bags of raw material.

5. Adhere to the strict principles of quality and quality control

6. Follow and assist with the development and implementation of efficient practices

7. Monitor and activity assist in ensuring compliance with Kerry policies and local, state, and federal regulations.

8. Promotes and works in a team environment. Is an active participant in all QC activities.

9. Enforces and supports GMP policies. Participates as an internal GMP inspector presents findings.

10. Maintains skills and knowledge base in QC methods. Maintains knowledge of relevant chemistry and process methodologies.

Marginal Functions

1. Participates on inter-departmental project teams.

2. Assists in maintaining the laboratory record file system.

Other duties may be assigned.

Job Specifications:


Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology or Biology. Microbiology background is preferred but nor required.


Experience in chemistry lab and food industry required. Preferred experience with sensory. New graduates welcome.


Must by highly organized driven and able to muli-task effectively. Must be capable of navigating and pulling together data from multiple system. Must be detailed oriented, meticulous, and capable of data review and analysis. Knowledge in QC laboratory methodologies, quality systems, and food safety is required. Knowledge of current GMP. HACCP Training. Allergen awareness. Must be computer literate. Incumbent must have excellent interpersonal skills, including both verbal and written communication and the ability to lead and work in interdepartmental teams. The work is self-directed and requires the ability to work without close, direct supervision utilizing good organizational techniques.
