We are currently seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

**TASKS/SERVICES** : The contractor shall:

(1) Segregate clean, process and return cleaned items to designated pickup shelves or to stock shelves.

(2) Order and stock standard laboratory glassware and associated supplies.

(3) Keep administrative staff updated on issues relating to needed repairs to equipment.

(4) Communicate with the lab staff daily to ensure their needs are being met.

(5) Ensure proper operation and daily maintenance of all equipment.

(6) Ensure adequate supplies for operation are kept on hand to maintain operation.

(7) Utilize AMBIS system to order supplies for glassware operation.

(8) Assist with cleaning, organizing and other administrative tasks as directed by Laboratory personnel.

(9) Manage a supply center located in the clean glassware storage room. This supply center will be stocked with various perishable reagents for Laboratory of Immune System Biology (LISB) scientific staff. Managing the supply center will be a daily task to stay up to date with the demands of scientists and stocked inventory.

(10) Monitoring temperatures of refrigerator and freezer

(11) Stocking supply center and ensuring reagents are stored at proper temperatures

(12) Charging labs for items taken from supply center

(13) Maintaining inventory and keeping record of item usage for future orders of supplies

(14) Ordering lab-related items (biological, chemical, office, consumable, etc.).

(15) Taking stock of the above items in lab and insuring they are ordered when required.

(16) Receive shipped items which have been ordered and putting them away.

(17) Ship biological materials to intra-and-extramural investigators.

(18) Culturing, testing, and freezing down cells.

(19) Respond to issues with the building as detailed by investigators and ensuring timely resolution.

(20) Place continued service contracts for instruments within the lab.

(21) Work with approved vendors to ensure continued operation of laboratory equipment.

(22) Keep track of cell lines and DNA repositories within the lab.

(23) Ensure organization and cleanliness within the laboratory areas.

(24) Ensure timely removal of lab-generated recycling and waste.

(25) Respond to issues regarding the building and contact the appropriate groups.

(26) Ensure fidelity of data of past investigators by spinning up hard drives consistently.



**REQUIREMENTS** : The contractor must have at least:

(1) High School diploma or equivalent.

(2) Minimum of two (2) years of related experience.

(3) Expertise in the operation of computer, general data acquisition and architectural programs.

(4) Experience with Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

(5) Experience working in a complex, demanding and faced paced dynamic work environment.

(6) Ability to maintain a clean work environment.

(7) Ability to follow all facility established programs. This includes those related to safe handling procedures for government supplies, equipment, and materials as well as proper attire (i.e., protective gear, appropriate clothing and shoes).

(8) Must be able to occasionally lift (up to) 40 pounds

(9) Must be comfortable around animals, specifically mice

(10) Able to multi-task, prioritize activities, and think on your feet

(11) Strong people and organizational skills
