**Overview**


We are seeking a Virologist for one of our clients, a company in Rochester, MN that seeks to accelerate the development of novel virus, gene and cell therapies through providing best in class reporter gene technologies and oncolytic virotherapies. The incumbent will ensure that all lab operations run smoothly by scheduling staff, ordering supplies, maintaining health and safety protocols, and training lab assistants. To be successful as a laboratory manager you must be able to multitask and plan ahead. A top-notch laboratory manager combines their experience in the science field with excellent managerial skills.


**Responsibilities**


+ Ensure all lab operations are carried on in an appropriated, cost-effective way.

+ Monitor and control expense according to allotted budget.

+ Purchase lab supplies, plan inventory and oversee warehouse efficiency.

+ Oversee safety and security of laboratory facilities including maintain current knowledge of all relevant protocols, regulations, standards, and safety procedures.

+ Oversee audits of laboratories and records.

+ Manage reporting, monitoring, resources, and laboratory personnel.

+ Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, budgets, and schedules.

+ Establish and improve procedures and processes by addressing issues and risks.

+ Ensure that environmental requirements are met at the federal, state, and local government levels.

+ Manage chemical hygiene compliance; oversee employee training and adherence to chemical and hazardous waste handling, transport, characterization, inventory, and disposal programs.

+ Manage biological safety compliance; oversee workplace safety policies and procedures (including training) and maintain a biosafety plan that meets agency requirements.


**Qualifications**


+ A Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, or another health and science field.

+ A minimum of 3 years' experience as a lab manager.

+ Experience as a biosafety or chemical safety officer.

+ Excellent managerial skills.

+ Ability to multitask.

+ Expert knowledge of laboratory health and safety protocols. Knowledge of BSL-2 practices is preferred.

+ Experience working in a lab would be advantageous.

+ Process-oriented mindset focused on continuous improvement, excellent problem-solving skills

+ Related certification (safety-related) is preferred.
