**Laboratory Support Coordinator (contract-to-hire, Tampa, FL)**

Kelly Services is seeking a motivated, hardworking individual to join our clients team as a Laboratory Support Coordinator. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for a well-respected company specializing in life-saving and life-enhancing tissue transplant services.

**Location:** Tampa, FL

**Type:** W2, contract-to-hire

**Schedule:** Monday Friday, 8-5

**Pay:** up to $19/hour

**Overview:** Position is critical to ensure the performance of key laboratory and validation processes such as: collection

of Environmental Monitoring samples that are required to maintain continual qualification of the processing

core, tracking, receiving and processing coolers containing donated human tissue, performance of various

laboratory tests that are required to release tissue for clinical use, and assisting the validation department

with EM trending, equipment qualification and calibration when needed

**Principal Duties and Responsibilities:**

- Responsible for the routine collection of environmental monitoring samples (i.e., surface testing,

viable and non-viable particulate count) including after hours and weekends.

- Responsible for the tracking, receiving and processing of coolers containing donated tissue

(including donor # assignment, computer data entry, inoculation of microbiological cultures, blood

specimen handling, tissue Q.C. and storage).

- Required when needed to participate in the on-call rotation for tracking, receiving and processing of

coolers containing donated tissue (including after normal business hours and weekends).

- Responsible for the monitoring and recording/obtaining trends of laboratory equipment temperatures.

Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment.

- Receives and inspects in-process and post-processing culture/test samples (i.e., Representative

Samples, Residual Calcium, Residual Moisture) to verify proper collection and labeling.

- Responsible to perform laboratory testing that does not require licensure such as Residual Moisture

Testing and seal-peel testing.

- Responsible to process blood samples for infectious disease testing including but not limited to

verification of proper blood tube type, centrifugation and aliquoting, completion of lab requisition and

determination of which tests need to be ordered.

- Assists the Validation Department with the performance of equipment calibrations when needed (i.e.,

thermometer) and equipment validation / re-qualification.

- Responsible for data entry of environmental monitoring test results into a trending worksheet and

updating graphs.

- Responsible for the maintenance and tracking of archive tissue, serum and/or plasma samples.

- Responsible to prepare/package various types of samples to be sent out for testing (i.e., serology

test samples, destructive test sample for micro testing).

- Responsible for segregating of biological and pathological waste generated by the laboratory.

- Assists in the tracking/maintenance of department metrics as needed.

**Required Skills & Qualifications:**

- High School Degree, Bachelors degree preferred.

- Previous experience with similar laboratory work and collection of environmental monitoring samples


- Work requires the interpersonal ability to interact with management and staff.

- Work requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.

- Must be able to stand for long periods of time & the ability to lift up to 50lbs.
