**Laboratory Technician - Temp to Hire (20.00 per hour) Monday-Friday 8-5 PM**

This position will produce high quality Medical Diagnostic products in an efficient, safe, and urgent manner. This position is responsible for executing the daily production activities primarily in the plate coating area for the Manufacturing Department. The plate coating operation includes set-up, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, cleaning, and updating of all related documents. This position has secondary responsibilities in the Filling, Labeling, and Assembly operation.


+ Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices including housekeeping, documentation, training, and gowning.

+ Adhere to all safety procedures including the wearing of proper personal protective gear, understanding and following the guidelines for chemical hygiene and exposure control, and executing duties in a safe manner (i.e. lifting techniques, ergonomics, etc).

+ Read, understand, and adhere to controlled documents necessary to perform duties, such as SOPs, equipment specifications, and batch records.

+ Properly operate automated equipment in the department with focus on the Oyster Bay Coating Instrument (Microplate Coating System).

+ Operating competence also expected on filling pumps, torqueing and capping devices, label applicators, and mixers.

+ Properly maintain each piece of equipment including adequate cleanliness and full execution of preventative maintenance.

+ Coordinate coating activities with the Manufacturing Lead, Solutions Prep Operator, and Production Planner for seamless execution.

+ Complete tasks in order directed by the batch record, document steps accurately and in a timely manner, honestly record work performed, and thoroughly check paperwork before forwarding it to the next stage.

+ Perform complete and accurate verification checks on co-workers tasks including set-up activities, label production, solutions including pH, concentration calculations, proper reading of volumetric devices, and some calibration.

+ Maintain clear product separation both during performance of required tasks and when placing components in storage. Identify all materials with status and key information.

+ Understand training requirements for position, complete specified training, and keep training documentation up to date.

+ Place components in specified containers, apply identification labels and assemble in final kit form as specified in manufacturing documents.

+ Maintain the cleanliness of specific work area and laboratory area and document completion of tasks in a timely manner.

+ Write and/or update relevant GMP documentation.

+ Conduct training for other employees on areas to which you are qualified and insure full documentation of training steps demonstrated by trainee.

+ May be required to properly issue or verify issuance of Device History Record documentation.

+ Request documents from Quality Assurance and supplies from Materials Management.

+ Document request properly and maintain inventory logs where appropriate.

+ Properly perform other duties as assigned by the Manufacturing Lead Operator or department supervisor.


EDUCATION: High School diploma or Science related degree

EXPERIENCE: 1 to 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment is helpful and preferred. Knowledge of manufacturing under GMP guidelines is considered a plus.

SKILLS: This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to communicate well and requires legible writing skills. This position requires basic knowledge of the healthcare environment, particularly the clinical diagnostic market. Mechanical or Instrument Experience a Plus.
