**Lab Tech, contract-to-hire, full or part-time, multiple shifts (Allentown, PA)**


Kelly Services is seeking several motivated, hardworking individuals to join our clients team as Microbiology Lab Technicians. These are contract-to-hire opportunities for a well-respected global company specializing in food testing and quality services for major brands worldwide. There are several positions available at various shifts. Please see the breakdown below and indicate which role youre interested in when applying.


**Location:** Allentown, PA


**Type:** W2, contract-to-hire, full-time and part-time roles available


**Work Days:** must work at least 1 weekend day, Saturday or Sunday


**Start times:** can start at 12 pm or at 2 pm, then work for 8-10 hours


**Pay:** $17/hour


**Overview:** In these roles you will serve as a Microbiology Lab Technician in a lab setting where you will be responsible for product testing, utility testing and environmental monitoring.


- Read plates and tubes, as required, to determine the number of organisms in the sample


- Record findings on worksheet for verification


- Write identification onto plates so that client and sample number can be tracked


- Pipette sample solution into tubes or plates according to the analysis process being performed


- Pour the agar into plates or tubes to begin the growth process


- Prepare sample for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending


- Collect plates and place them in the incubator for the specified amount of time and temperature


- Prepare media and broth for use in pathogen testing as required


- Sterilize materials needed for analysis. Autoclave plates before discarding


- Perform food poisoning, pH and other analysis tests on sample when requested by the client


- Ensure that media and materials are prepared for the next testing sequence


- Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that is required to complete job responsibilities


- Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis


- Perform necessary housekeeping duties in a timely manner, keeping the work areas and equipment clean and sanitized


- Must participate in cleaning schedule and maintain retain samples as required



**Qualifications & Requirements:**


- Prior experience in a lab setting / basic lab skills helpful, prior experience in food testing & quality highly preferred


- Basic Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) helpful


- Basic Knowledge of general Microbiology techniques such as gram staining, aseptic technique, and plate streaking techniques helpful


- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.


- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
