Kelly Services is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician II in Huntsville, AL to work a contract assignment of 6 months for one of our top clients. **Primary Responsibilities of the** Laboratory Technician II **includes:**

+ Accurately performs appropriate physical / chemical tests on products and development materials.

+ Operates laboratory equipment or performs procedures for viscosity, hardness, stress profile, density or other physical tests.

+ Records data accurately on manual or computerized systems.

+ Interprets and verbalize test results for communication.

+ Informs management regarding non- conforming material or products. Applies all laboratory safety procedures.

+ Participates in 5S activities.

+ Complies with Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements at all times.

+ Performs other tasks as assigned.


Main Activities/Key Responsibilities:


+ Glass / ceramics lab melt / preparation

+ Glass / ceramics sample preparation for characterization

+ Assist / perform

+ Physical property testing of glass/ceramic samples; i.e. hardness, light transmittance, stress profile, viscosity etc.

+ Chemical characterization of glass/ceramics samples; i.e XRF, FTIR, ICP-MS, TGA, DSC

+ Proficient in Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) suite. Preferably some data analysis knowledge with excel or other software.


Functional and Technical Skills


+ Must be observant, accurate, able to follow directions, and able to perform tasks in a clean, safe and timely manner.

+ Must be able to lift over 25 pounds in order to handle materials.

+ Must have interpersonal and communication skills necessary to effectively communicate with laboratory and plant personnel.

+ Must be able to effectively read, write, and communicate in English.

+ Must be able to effectively operate electronic, mechanical or manual laboratory equipment requiring precise adjustment of controls for valid results.

+ Must be able to wear required PPE with or without reasonable accommodation.


**Education and Experience Requirement of the** Laboratory Technician II **includes** :


+ Associate Degree (AA / AS) in Physical Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or Engineering) degree desired.

+ One year of laboratory experience, preferably in a chemical lab.

+ Summer internship in a lab or manufacturing setting would also be considered.

+ Working knowledge of characterization equipment like UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer, FTIR, ICP-MS, XRF, etc., will be a plus.


**Additional Information:**


+ Contract assignment, duration 6 months.

+ Work schedule: full-time, first shift.
