Kelly Services is currently seeking an experience Laboratory Technician in the Midland, Michigan area!



The Laboratory Technician will be performing chemistry using glassware or metal pressure reactors, such as round bottom flasks, glass reactors, batch (Parr) pressure reactors, continuous polymerization equipment, continuous fixed bed reactors, and separations equipment. These studies include online monitoring as well as taking samples during the experiment (for additional off-line testing using various analytical and characterization techniques). This will require setting up the equipment for the each set of runs, running, collecting data, collecting samples, then performing analytical tests, including GC analysis.





The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for following and complying with all laboratory safety policies including, but not limited to:




+ Use of proper personal protective equipment

+ Management of Change (MOC)/pre-experiment reviews

+ Documentation and following of procedures

+ Global Mechanical Integrity Standards (GMISS)

+ Safety meeting attendance

+ Continuous hazard awareness meetings (CHAT)





**General Requirements**




+ Works as part of a team in a laboratory supporting chemists and engineers in developing, screening and commercializing new products and process.

+ Manages and then safely executes laboratory work requests, maintaining and running relevant laboratory apparatus and testing equipment and documenting data.

+ Accurately and reliably records readings and observations using relevant equipment and instruments, understanding how assigned duties integrate with others in the team.

+ Acts responsible for calibration, safe operation, and routine maintenance of simple and moderately complex instruments or machinery and troubleshoots faulty equipment effects repairs or initiates repair processes as appropriate.

+ Maintains inventories of consumable materials, chemicals, and supplies related to activities by anticipating usage rates, order lead times, and ordering/purchasing procedures, impacting the accuracy of own work.

+ Promptly and effectively communicates issues to Technology Leader or lead scientists in order to enable or accelerate problem resolution.

+ Actively participate in work group team meetings to address safety, process improvement, problem solving, and other work group, department, and functional topics.

+ Familiarity with setting up and working with glassware set ups.

+ Familiarity with proper handling various laboratory chemicals based on Safety Data Sheets.





**Education REQUIREMENTS**




+ Associates degree or greater in science related field or 3+ years experience in the laboratory.
