Description Laboratory Technician - Job Title Lab Tech Summary of Essential Job Functions Follow all plant operating and safety policies and procedures to make on-the-job decisions to permit safe and efficient operations of the area and the overall plant, according to specified and delegated authority.

Provide analytical process quality monitoring for raw materials, shipments and in-process products.

Enter data in Sample Manager; ensure data meets manufacturing, product, and customer specifications.

Communicate results to operations in a timely manner to minimize vulnerabilities to production of off-spec materials.

Note all off spec analytical results in electronic logbook and send to operations logbook as well.

Prepare eluents and reagents for lab analyzers.

Verify standards received from outside vendors for lab use.

Assist in maintenance and calibration of analytical instrumentation per master task list.

Assist in overall area responsibilities for best coordination of area and plant operation.

Maintain effective communication and coordination with area supervisors and operator technicians.

Perform minor maintenance to maintain good and continuous 24-hour operation.

Maintain accurate notes in electronic log book of significant conditions, information, or results.

Also, note any issues with instrumentation in the equipment section of the electronic logbook.

Cooperate with maintenance and development projects to attain maximum efficiency in operations and minimize outages of equipment. i.e. Lab A/C, Lab exhaust hood maintenance Promote and practice operational excellence, good safety and housekeeping.

Make suggestions according to the proper procedure for improvements in operation and safety. Complete required training on a timely basis.

Review assigned procedures in a timely manner. Perform all duties in alignment with Olin s quality policy and per the ISO9001 standards and procedures.

Perform other duties as directed by the area supervisor.

Minimum Requirements HS diploma or equivalent required.

Must possess at least one of the following three requirements: An Associate s degree in a lab science or a related discipline, or a minimum of four 4 years equivalent industrial lab work experience, or Ten 10 years industrial chemical plant operator experience.

A four-year degree in Chemistry/experimental science and lab experience in a chemical industry is preferred.

The candidate must have proven work experience in: Preparing samples for high purity analyses, as well as conducting these high purity analyses to obtain accurate results and analyzing resulting data and making reporting decisions based on pre-established specification parameters.

Experience in a quality assurance environment with analytical instrumentation and measurements as well as statistical analysis of data is a plus; prefer detailed knowledge of: NPDES permit, SPCC regulations, storm water regulations, RCRA part B contingency plan, RCRA groundwater sampling plan, RCRA part B permit waste analysis plan, sampling and analysis procedures for NPDES data and Q/A data, ISO, SAP Q/A module, and plant specific waste management practices.

Must meet the physical requirements including, but not limited to, climbing stairs and ladders. Must be able to pass fit test for half face respirators. Must be able to digest and disseminate written information and make numerical calculations sufficiently well to perform assigned general and specific duties and responsibilities. Provide vacation relief support and participation in a rotating shift; scheduling may vary due to covering other shifts Must have basic computer skills including Word and Excel, SAP knowledge a plus.
