LH41 - Fork Lift Operator

Kelly Services is looking for Forklift Operators for one of their clients in Salt Lake City, UT for a long term temp to hire position.


Pay rate: $18.50/hr


3rd shift, hours 10:00pm 6:30am Monday - Friday


A. At Start-Up



At Startup of run - complete fork truck check lists - complete safety checklists before operating the truck. If any inspections fail or in question, make sure the production supervisor is aware immediately.

Make sure you are aware what products are ready to be produced and where it will be transferred to the warehouse. The production schedule will have that information.

1. Make sure the slat placement area is clean, orderly and prepared for

that specific run.

2. Check material handling equipment and make sure it is ready for before each run.

3. Make sure the bagging/stacking areas have enough slipsheets and

bags for each run.

4. Make sure there is sufficient amount of slats for each run.

5. Check the WIP area (work in process), and place any WIP that is the same of that run, behind the stacking area for bleed in.

6. Check dumpsters, empty pallets, and brickroom for proper disposal.



B. While Running



During the run - check general quality of the material.

1. Tags on properly

2. Wrap and bags on correctly

3. Bundles are stacked correctly

4. Foam quality observed


If bundle quality is not satifactory, place the bundle aside (behind the bagger/stacker station for rework). DO NOT WAREHOUSE THESE BUNDELS.

Take straight- stacked, properly labeled and wrapped bundles into finished goods warehouse. When warehousing check quality of the warehoused material.

1. Bundles are stacked straight

2. All bundles have the proper amount of slats.

3. Bundles are NOT touching each other ( touching uncured bundles will result in bags to melt)

4. Bundles are not leaning ( report to the supervisor and A operator immediately when experiencing leaning bundles)

5. Warehouse area is left clean and orderly at all times.



C. Product Changeovers



During product changeovers trucker tag logs should be completed for the previous run and brought to the production office. Any extra WIP should be taken to the WIP area. Extra taper boards to be taken to the pick room. All economy and slat bundles should be taken to their proper areas.

Everything should be rechecked for the startup on the next run. (Startup of run)



D. Machine Downtime



During machine downtime, extra time will be available to complete trash and brick Dumpster removal, small dumpsters located at the pour table and the slat cutter, and QC Dumpster. All work instructions discussed during startups and product changeovers should be completed. When there is longer machine downtime, the following should be completed:

1. Rework bundles - rework bundles will be set back on line and will be rebagged and tagged. Rework bundles are warehoused bundles and can be sent back into the warehouse with NO PAPERWORK. If any of the boards in the bundle were replaced by WIP because of damage, a transfer will be made from WIP to warehouse and a transfer will be made from warehouse to scrap.

2. Staging area/ WIP area - any full bundles that were placed in staging or WIP can be warehoused.

3. Check with supervisor for other duties.

E. End of shift - During multiple shifts, it is important to communicate to the next shift current bundle count (if run overlaps shift) and warehouse locations. All paperwork should be completed and taken to the production office.


1. All trucker tag logs

2. Material transfer sheets

3. Product scrap reports

4. Daily packaging requisitions sheets



F. Miscellaneous


Paperwork is needed to be filled out daily. The paperwork and explanation on how to fill them out can be found in ISO 9000 folder. ALL FORKLIFT DRIVERS NEED TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO FILL OUT PAPERWORK CORRECTLY.


Safety toe shoes are required and not provided

Safety glasses and cut resistant gloves are provided
