Hours of Work:



5am -3:30pm (Monday-Thursday) with one-half hour lunch and two breaks. Overtime may be scheduled as needed and directed by management



Location: Ogden, UT.



Pay range; $16.50 to $19.00 DOE



**Job Summary**


Sets up and operates machines and machining centers to fabricate parts; fits and assembles machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques.


**Essential Functions**

*Studies blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

*Verifies conformance of processes or work piece to specifications.

*Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece.

*Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.

*Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut; enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.

*Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

*Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measurements, including micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.

*Sets up and operates machine trial run to verify accuracy of settings or programmed control data.

*Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plate, surface table, hand tools, and power tools.

*Confers with engineers, production, or programmers, to resolve machining or assembly problems.

*Performs routine preventative maintenance on machines as scheduled and required for TPM.

*Works individually and as a team to develop and implement quality and efficiency improvements.

*Conducts tests and inspections of products, or processes to evaluate quality or performance; examines products or work to verify conformance to specifications.

**Additional Responsibilities**

*May be required to cross train and demonstrate competency on all essential job functions of the department working at different work stations as production needs require.

*Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships; training and teaching others.

*Maintenance of a clean and orderly work area free of excess materials.

*Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.



**Qualifications**

*High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with production processes, machines and/or tools.

*Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, proportions and decimals. Ability and understanding of various measuring devices in meeting drawing dimensions and specifications.

*Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, work orders, work instructions, diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

*Work requires continual attention to detail in follow through, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.


May require exposure to hazardous equipment or physical hazards including intense ultraviolet light, vapors, fumes, electromagnetic fields and very hot materials. Requires wearing protective and/or safety equipment, safety glasses with side shields and steel-toe shoes, googles, welding hoods with protective lenses, harness and other protective equipment.

May work at different workstations as production needs require or shift from one work cell to another during the welding process. Work requires meeting performance deadlines and being exact or highly accurate; requires face-to-face discussions with individuals or teams wand working with others in a group or team.
