**Machine Design Engineer**


**Location: Saint Paul, MN**


**Temp to Hire**


**Requirements:**


+ Mechanical Engineering degree, or similar, required.

+ 5-10+ years design engineering experience.

+ Familiar with SolidWorks PDM or similar CAD software.

+ Advanced mechanical drafting skills.

+ Incorporate proven, readily available technology into design based on customer or project requirements.

+ Create drawings with detailing of parts and assemblies including dimensions, callouts, tolerances, and material specifications.

+ Creates comprehensive build plans for the mechanical assemblers to accurately assemble/build to print.

+ Develop and release bill of materials including stock material and commercials to purchasing.

+ Working knowledge of hydraulic fluid systems and pneumatics and the ability to properly size all machine components including cylinders, clamps, motors, fasteners, actuators, regulators, flow controls, valves, fittings, etc.

+ Comprehension of the principles of Statics, Dynamics, and Loads, as well as complex mathematical skills to calculate deflections and other mathematical concepts.

+ Working knowledge of machining practices including tolerances, surface finishes, materials, and ASTM Standards.

+ Fundamental machine design for safety and ergonomics, including CE requirements knowledge.

+ A well-developed mechanical aptitude and understanding of motions and spatial relationships.

+ Project estimating.


**Responsibilities:**


+ Develop proposals, scopes of work, scope changes, correspondence, estimates, detailed bill of materials, design concepts, drawings with detailing of parts and assemblies and other project documentation per customer and corporate guidelines.

+ Interface with customers to capture design intent to then conceptualize, design and draft detailed drawings for fabrication and assembly of said equipment.

+ Establish functional requirements and performance targets for mechanical systems/subsystems components.

+ Mitigate operator risk of machine operation, usage, maintenance, or in machine failure during design. Use safety sensors in critical areas to ensure operator and machine safety.

+ Provide technical assistance to manufacturing during construction.

+ Manage project specific budgets and schedules to stay on track and ensure timely delivery within the given budget.

+ Work with assembly and electrical controls designer to ensure all mechanical and electrical setups, alignments, and programs are completed properly and meet customer requirements.

+ Maintain organized project files and documentation.

+ Apply knowledge of common fabrication and machining methods to reduce the manufacturing costs and create the most efficient design possible.

+ Assist customer in testing and documenting final machine operation Customer Run-Off .

+ Provide training and support to customer, as needed.

+ Act as a technical mechanical design resource/support for company staff.
