**Job Description**

Position Overview: This utility position is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnosis of all machinery and equipment within the plant. It is also responsible for providing manufacturing technical support to department engineers and designers to optimize process efficiency. Will provide accurate paperwork and record keeping. Must have the ability to use measuring and test equipment as required, follow all company rules and policies as well as OSHA/EPA regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Perform electrical repairs & installs.

2. Recommend and implement maintenance improvements to increase equipment reliability.

3. Follow specifications for maintenance activities from engineering and equipment manufacturers.

4. Interface with production as appropriate to ensure production equipment readiness and performance.

5. Troubleshoot and diagnose machinery effectively to minimize production loss.

6. Estimate time and materials needed to perform maintenance tasks.

7. Maintain records and reports of service/work performed inside MP2 management system.

8. Concise reporting of production issues to management.

9. Produce prototypes as assigned/required.

10. Develop standardized set-ups, speeds, and feed rates. Back-up for quality control function within the department.

11. Hands-on implementation of OFIs as assigned. Prepare and maintain records as required.

12. Responsibility and adherence of RCRA requirements.


Qualification Requirements:

- Maintain accurate records, logs and collect any necessary date for use by Engineering.

- High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of five (5) years related work experience at Journeyman level.

- Working knowledge of maintenance operations and equipment.

- Advanced electrical experience; Ability to work with technical personnel.

- Must be self-motivated.

- Use protective equipment as required.

- Other duties as required by management.

Minimum Qualifications:


- Requires a high school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent. Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is desired.

- Able to read and understand written instructions.

- Must be accurate with both calipers and micrometer. Strong mechanical aptitude.

- Strong team attitude.

- Must be knowledgeable of Hazardous Waste handling. PLC experience is a Plus


- At least 3 years of experience with CNC machine maintenance and repair is required.

- Working knowledge of single and 3 phase industrial electricity and power distribution.

- Ability to size and run conduit.

- Working knowledge of AC and DC drives.

- Understanding of mechanical and pneumatic systems.

- Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance concepts.

- Familiar with HVAC operations and components.

- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

- Understanding of basic machine operation and design principles.

- Ability to plan the fabrication, installation and repairs of machinery, equipment, and building components/systems.

- Utilize computerized Preventative Maintenance system.

- Ability to work with minimum supervision.

- Ability to work with other disciplines in a team environment.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Computer literate.

- Low voltage controls and PLC knowledge a plus.

- Ability to read and understand written instructions.


- Experience in like work centers.

- Experience in working with steel microfibers is preferred but not needed.

* Three years of experience with CNC machine maintenance and repair is required.


Will be trained and certified on all aspects of the position. Training is typically conducted over a prescribed period of time and may require working at night. When and if training certification is required, it may consist of taking and passing one or more comprehensive test(s) based on classroom materials, computer training information and/or field hands-on training comprehension demonstrations. When and if training certification is required, the incumbent will be asked to renew his/her certification at regular intervals when or if lack of certification level knowledge is demonstrated. Must maintain a satisfactory level of certification when required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry over 50 lbs. Ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, walk, reach, squat, kneel, push and pull for long periods of time. Able to climb a ladder and flex the upper and lower body. Must be able to read and write simple statements. Able to analyze, memorize and conduct and comprehend simple mathematical tasks. Be able to make decisions and have sound judgment.

Work Environment:

Must be able to work alone and around others. Be able to have verbal and face-to-face contact with others. Must be flexible to work various shifts, work hours, different days of the week and extended days. Able to work during daytime or nighttime. Must be able to withstand temperature changes, work under extreme heat or cold, confined spaces, inside and/or outside and around dirt, dust and/or hazardous chemical materials.

Each incumbent is assigned a pre-determined work schedule to follow by their Team Leader or Work Center Supervisor.
