**Maintenance Mechanic**


The mechanic is responsible and accountable for all maintaining all equipment in the plant in a safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant condition. The mechanic strives to achieve the highest operating efficiency, job efficiency, and standard of performance possible while conducting machine set-up, troubleshooting, and repairs. The incumbent also optimizes the preventative/predictive maintenance process. The mechanic is responsible for communicating critical information concerning environmental compliance, homeland security, and operational issues to the designated associate.

**Principal Duties and Responsibilities:**

+ Must be available and respond to trouble calls on weekends and after hours.

+ Performs emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment during production, and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.

+ Actively engage in the plant's Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts through maintaining 5S standards and area/pillar activities as assigned.

+ Assist operators in more complicated repairs and adjustments to equipment or where precision skills are needed.

+ Complete all reports and transactions required to document work in SAP

+ Performs preventive maintenance task and inspections as required.

+ Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required work.

+ Fabricates and welds as needed to specifications

+ Performs building maintenance as needed; lights, exhaust fans, painting, etc.

+ Troubleshooting basics, how to analyze a problem and the steps to identify the root cause. Helps reduce cycle time to problem resolution and eliminates the replace and see what happens method

+ A mechanic should be capable of repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the following equipment at a minimum: Pumps, Valves, Pipes, Burners, Filter System, Agitators, Blowers, Check Valves, PRDs, Pipe Insulation, Steam Traps, and Fans.

+ Use accurately and safely all hand tools, special tools and test equipment

+ Demonstrates the ability to operate shop equipment

+ Reviews and creates job hazard analysis

+ Performs root and apparent cause analysis of chronic/repetitive/costly failures.

+ Provides technical and operational support as needed

+ Must be capable understanding and following oral and written communication instructions

+ Take personal ownership to work safely each and everyday

+ Actively engage in the plant's Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts through maintaining 5S standards and area/pillar activities as assigned.

+ General housekeeping in your work area

+ Follow the company waste management program - separate all recyclable material and discard waste into the appropriate containers to ensure sustainability efforts maximized

+ Remain actively 100% engaged in all safety initiatives and comply with all plant safety regulations

+ Comply with all plant rules and corporate policies regarding business conduct

+ Regular onsite attendance

+ All other duties as assigned or needed that can be performed safely

+ High school diploma or general education (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate degree preferred

+ Qualified Lift Truck /Bob Cat Operator

+ Knowledge in mechanical repairs, welding, electrical to include PLC and electronic drives, fabrication, plumbing, etc.

+ Ability to take precision measurements

+ Knowledge of Industrial maintenance craft skills

+ Good oral and written communications skills

+ Basic computer knowledge and skills SAP, Word, Excel, etc.

+ Knowledge of all safe work procedures

+ Self-starter, motivated and goal oriented. Able to demonstrate good leadership skills and risk management coupled with high tolerance for stress

+ Properly use tools and housekeeping resources (examples mop, broom, powered industrial floor scrubber, shovel, pick, paint brush, lawn mower, weed eater, rake, etc.)

+ Assess and only operate equipment when all guarding and safety devices are in proper working order

+ Must understand verbal and written instructions

+ Must be self-motivated to work independently and in a group

+ Must perform basic mathematical calculations


+ Basic computer knowledge and skills (SAP, Word, Excel and etc.,)

+ Log onto a computer and navigate via keyboard to access paycheck/benefits enrollment information and accomplish required online training routinely.


+ High School Diploma or GED equivalency

+ Must be able to prove sustainable authorization to work in the United States.

+ One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Ability to operate a Lift Truck

+ Knowledge and adherence of all safe work procedures.


+ Must be capable of reading letters and numbers, and have good color perception. Must be capable of reading letters and numbers, and have good color perception.

+ Range of Motion full, some bending, lifting, and standing for an 8-12-hour period.

+ Lifting Capacity: Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 40lbs chest-high.

+ Sitting/Standing/Climbing: Standing for 12 hours daily, and moving up and down stairs and working at elevated heights.

+ Walk/stand on concrete floors continuously for up to 12 hours

+ Routinely ascend and descend stairs and ladders as work area requires

+ Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) steel toed shoes, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask), gloves, bump cap/hard hat as necessary for task

**WORK ENVIRONMENT:** The incumbent will work in dusty, dirty, hot, wet conditions, or at elevated heights. The job requires stamina, because the employee stands most of the day and, at times, may need to move moderately heavy cartons/cans of asphalt. The incumbent is exposed to hazards such as hot equipment, product, and fumes. He/she may work in awkward a position which exposes them to additional hazards. They are required to use protective equipment such as safety shields, safety glasses, steel-tipped shoes, gloves, and other PPE.
