Description **Kelly Engineering** is currently recruiting for a **(Contract to Hire) (Maintenance Technician)** job located in **Chattanooga, TN** . The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintenance of the production equipment to ensure continuous and efficient operations. This position requires “hands-on” execution to accomplish the essential job functions along with a strong focus on plant layout and continuous plant/product improvement. The Maintenance Mechanic will play a key role in supporting and maintaining safety standards and initiatives.

**Essential Functions:**

+ Continuously monitor and observe plant operations to ensure capital resources are functioning at maximum efficiency. Recommend and implement repairs and preventive maintenance to maximize production and/or processing efficiency.
+ Proactively trouble-shoot equipment to minimize equipment malfunction or breakdown. Ensure equipment is repaired timely and efficiently. Advise Plant Manager when significant production breakdowns occur.
+ Execute process improvement plans using a variety of Quality and Continuous Process Improvement tools/methodologies.
+ Manage plant compliance to city, state and federal operational, environmental & OSHA laws.
+ Collaborate with plant management on a continuous basis about problems, issues, hazards and other areas of concern. Frequent interaction with non-maintenance plant staff.
+ Maintain maintenance records utilizing electronic software and printed documents to record preventive maintenance, repair and regulatory compliance activities, etc.
+ Interact with vendors in securing required products and services on an as needed basis.
**Job Specifications:**

+ High school or trade school diploma
+ Five years of hands-on electro-mechanical experience required along with experience in a manufacturing environment.
+ Demonstrated analytical and equipment trouble-shooting skills. Demonstrated effective communication skills both verbal and written.
+ Demonstrate sound decision-making based on logic and facts. Must be able to analyze work, set goals, develop plans of actions and execute in a timely manner.
+ Proficient with the use of maintenance hand tools, lathes, welding equipment, etc. is required.
+ Ability and willingness to travel if need be 5 to 10%.
**Preferred Skills and Experience:**

+ BS or AS degree preferred.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of batch chemical manufacturing methods.
+ Ability to present verbal and written technical information and effectively communicate to all levels of the organization about production & process controls and plant/production improvement.
+ Lean manufacturing, 5S and knowledge of ISO 9001 a plus.
