**Manufacturing Engineer**

Kelly Services is working with a Tier 1 manufacturer of exhaust systems that is searching for a **mid-career level Manufacturing Engineer.** This is a **direct hire role with metal forming, welding and automated assembly operations including robotics.** In this role, your focus will focus on the **sustainment & improvement of existing manufacturing process.**

**Job Scope of the Manufacturing Engineer:** As part of a team of 7-10 manufacturing engineers, you will report to the Engineering Manager. You will be hands on in a plant environment where you will work on maintenance & production projects. You will look for opportunities for improvement, plan and execute the following:

+ Fixture Design

+ Poka-Yoke

+ Line mapping

+ Process Layouts

+ Equipment Installation

+ Process Debugging

+ Lean manufacturing implementation

**Essential Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer:**

+ Identify areas of capital improvement and investment including: cost justification, cost estimates, project timeline, schedules.

+ Capacity studies in support of new launches or plant reconfiguration

+ Develop, modify work instructions for welding, metal forming or assembly processes.

+ Equipment maintenance planning including scheduling PMs, managing MRO inventory

+ Trouble shoot manufacturing issues related to process or equipment.

+ Equipment programming: press brakes, welding systems, multi-axis robots

+ Fixture and/or other tool design

+ Approve and sign off on new equipment or tooling installation.

+ Implement ECO/ECN

+ Work with Quality, Program Managers, Plant Management, Product Development to ensure production meets quality standards and other deliverables

+ Work stoppage authority

+ Provide manager and other teams with updates on equipment and process improvements.

+ Provide engineering support to manufacturing. Some operations are 7 days a week and you will have to be on call some days/nights to resolve manufacturing related issues.

**Qualifications of the Successful Manufacturing Engineer:**

+ Bachelors Degree in Engineering with minimum of 3 years hands on manufacturing experience or 10+ years relevant experience in lieu of a degree

+ Working knowledge poka-yoke, capacity studies, process layout, line mapping is required

+ Proficiency with AutoCAD, Catia or other solid modeling CAD system is required.

+ Working knowledge of welding, metal forming and assembly process is highly desired, at least welding or metal forming is required.

+ Experience with equipment trouble shooting or maintenance planning is required.

+ Experience with robotic programming is required, Yaskawa motoman a plus.

+ Experience with implementing capital projects from concept through installation is required.

+ Experience with developing and implementing manufacturing process including staff training.

+ Interpersonal skills required: excellent written and verbal communication skills, track record of working with all levels of plant staff for operator to executive leadership.

+ This position works in a plant office setting, manufacturing floor of a metal forming facility and warehouse/stock room environment.

+ You will on occasion lift, push, move 50-100 lbs.
