**Manufacturing Engineer**


**Reports to: Engineering and Process Development Manager**


**Chicago Heights, IL**


Kelly Engineering Resources is searching for a Manufacturing Engineer with knowledge of metal fabrication process including sheet metal cutting, bending, and welding. This is on behalf on our client a manufacturer of store fixtures. This position will be either direct hire or contract to hire, depending on training required. This is an ideal position for entry level candidates or candidates with relevant experience in lieu of a degree.


Your main focus will be to ensure all products provide a high level of quality that meets customer expectation. This includes:


+ Manufacturing process development

+ Develop and execute programs to ensure different products leaving manufacturing are fully operational, effective, and free from defects. Verifying the quality and performance of the products in addition to troubleshooting the rectification of any existing errors or defects

+ Ensure that the process development, Production, and testing of products and procedures work accordingly to established action plans.

+ Creating efficient manufacturing routers/Manufacturing Plans to avoid problems during the Production of a product.

+ Validates Production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating Standard Operational Procedures (SOP)

+ With support from Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, manage all engineering activities, solving complex performance and operational issues to improve manufacturing processes.

+ Supporting operations and engineering by identifying process improvement opportunities and drive improvements in quality and productivity.


**Responsibilities:**


+ Create and validate activities related to the development, implementation, and technical support towards sustaining or improving functions in a product manufacturing process.

+ Develop, modify production routers.

+ Plans and directs the implementation of equipment, tooling, and process modifications to improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques, and production yields for existing products.

+ Lean Methodology to eliminate waste and drive continuous process improvement opportunities to promote safety, quality, efficiency, and effectiveness

+ Suggest tooling, equipment, and process modifications to improving production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques, and production yields for existing products.

+ Provides support and guidance to manufacturing.

+ Assists with defining processing equipment requirements and specifications, and the review of processing techniques applied in the manufacture and evaluation of products.

+ Other duties, as assigned.


+ Creates Procedures, Work Instructions & Protocols as required

+ Hands-on in a dynamic small shop environment where everyone is challenged by "rolling up their sleeves" to develop & implement solutions for our customer.

**Qualifications**


+ Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related Mechanical Engineering field.

+ 1-3 years of wide-ranging experience in the development, implementation, and technical support with sustaining or improving product manufacturing process with responsibility for results, including costs and methods.

+ Experience in welding, weld fixture design

+ Experience using methodologies like 5 Why, 8D, 6 Sigma to solve problems.

+ Thorough understanding of the core processes relevant to production launch such as manufacturing process documentation, material availability and sourcing needs.

+ Demonstrated ability to work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.

+ Demonstrated experience in determining the best use of resources to meet the goals of assignments received in the form of objectives.

+ Able to lead cooperative efforts among members of project teams.

+ Able to follow processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

+ Able to provide guidance to coworkers within the latitude of established company policies.

+ Must be fluent in the English language with the ability to effectively communicate throughout the organization in both written and verbal form.

+ Spanish language communication skills a plus
