The Staff Engineer is heavily involved in the manufacturing process; providing solutions when errors in the manufacturing process arise. Their primary duty is to ensure that products are produced at the rate needed to meet customer demand but also ensures compliance with approved production methods and quality standards. Plans and designs new methods to improve production processes. Reviews existing processes and develops solutions to increase productivity or reduce costs. Works with Senior Staff Engineers to obtain additional training to benefit the overall organization. The Staff Engineer supports the company goals and objectives.



**Responsibilities:**




+ Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant: Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.

+ Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

+ Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.

+ Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.

+ Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

+ Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

+ Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.

+ Evaluate production equipment used to make products, and the materials used in the production of products




+ Sustain and continuously improve existing mechanical/engineering processes to produce high quality products

+ Identify and develop process improvements to effectively utilize equipment and materials to maximize production

+ Assist maintenance technicians in fixing malfunctioning equipment so that production deadlines are met

+ Establish detailed procedures for testing of the product at various stages of the manufacturing process

+ Perform engineering analysis to reduce downtime and outages

+ Confirm part quality after machine modifications and repair

+ Provide engineering solutions when errors in the manufacturing process arise

+ Ensure continuous improvement, as well as monitoring and troubleshooting the manufacturing process

+ Building or setting up equipment , conduct experiments

+ Programming Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines including vertical/horizontal mills, 2-4 axis lathes, and multi-axis mill-turn equipment

+ Approve Ladder Logic changes as needed

+ Selecting and deploying tooling fit for the process

+ Designing special tools as needed

+ Work on projects and activities related to Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) deployment, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Setup Reduction (SMED), and Standard Work

+ Design and developing new machining processes

+ Investigate current methods and processes while researching new technology and advanced methods

+ Complete process layouts including machining methods, tooling selection

+ Calculates yield, the ratio of good products to the number of total products produced




+ Develop operating instructions and equipment specifications for production activities

+ Create and maintain a safe work environment; Identifying unsafe operations or practices and report to the Manager immediately



**Qualifications:**




+ Bachelors Degree in Engineering Technology; or any combination of education and/or experience in an precision automotive manufacturing environment

+ Experience; preferably in a precision, production manufacturing environments
