**SUMMARY OF POSITION:**


This position is responsible for ensuring the manufacturability and production quality of products throughout their lifecycle from design to end-of-life. Serves as an authority on electronics product assembly and quality assurance while influencing product design and sustaining products efforts to achieve efficient, cost-effective manufacturing, reliable, and high quality products. As a technical and project interface to Inovonics contract manufacturers, participates in the technical transition and communication of new products into production, and serves as a contact for monitoring and resolving process quality issues.


**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**


1. Ensures the technical quality and manufacturability of products, performs product failure analysis, and resolves product and process issues in the supply chain. The scope of the role is the support of new designs and maintaining existing designs.

2. Drives and supports meeting development schedules, production cost and yield targets, supply chain quality, and customer requirements.

3. As an authority on manufacturing engineering, manufacturing assembly and manufacturing test processes, will advocate for product designs that achieve efficient and sustainable low cost manufacturing with high quality. This includes driving design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for test (DFT) into the product development process and contributing to the product design.

4. Actively applies working knowledge of contemporary concepts and methods of Lean, SQC, and Six-Sigma as appropriate to meet business, project, and product requirements.

5. Develops, documents, validates, and ensures processes are in use as required by the quality management system. Supports the maintenance of quality management documents within area of responsibility.

6. Initiates, analyzes, and executes ECO's within an engineering change control system.

7. Provides supply chain support in the management and resolution of product and manufacturing process yields targets, process cost and valuation, and problem resolution.

8. Works directly with contractors and suppliers to negotiate, manage, and drive continuous improvement, cost reduction, and product sustaining projects, and tasks to achieve businesses objectives.

9. Maintains healthy business relationships and performance of contract manufacturers. Escalate resolution of manufacturing and quality issues when necessary.

10. Monitors, and manages supplier process performance, capability, and quality.

11. Supports cross functional project teams, including creation of engineering documentation and reports within the scope of the Product Development Process (PDP) and this positions role.

12. Provides technical support to sales, technical services, and product management.

13. Fosters and maintains effective relationships with engineering and operations personnel, and management, contributing to a positive team spirit, and a productive and efficient work atmosphere.

14. Maintains job skills and education in applicable areas of manufacturing, engineering, and quality assurance.

15. Travel required to meet with contractors and suppliers.


**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:**


1. 5 to 7 years proven experience working in electronic manufacturing defining, developing, and supporting manufacturing assembly and test processes.

2. Proven work experience SMT assembly, wave solder assembly, and mechanical assembly final assembly of portable battery-operated products is preferred.

3. Experienced driving and sustaining supplier process and quality performance.

4. Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical assembly processes, interpretation of Mechanical prints and CAD files. Able to produce CAD designs of manufacturing jigs, fixtures, and tools for rapid production.

5. Experience creating manufacturing procedures and using documentation systems.

6. Experience and/or training in Lean product development and manufacturing, SQC and Six-Sigma.

7. Working knowledge of PCB fabrication, PCBA assembly, plastic molding, fastener technologies, and tooling practices.

8. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical peers, management, and suppliers.

9. Able to participate and lead cross functional teams covering many disciplines.

10. Experience distilling product requirements into manufacturing processes to support delivery of new products within the scope of the business strategy and objectives.


**EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:**


**B.S. Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.**
