Kelly Engineering has an opportunity for a Lead Manufacturing Engineer for an automotive manufacturer in Monroe, GA. This Lead Manufacturing Engineer develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Coordinates the manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Trains and mentors other Engineers and Technicians. Assists the Engineering Manager with coordination of department activities.


+ Assists the Production Engineering Manager with setting the priorities of work for the department. Oversees the department while the Manager is absent.

+ Plans and implements improvements for extremely difficult issues or large impact issues for their own areas of responsibility.

+ Reviews and compiles annual and multi-year plans for multiple production lines. Gives feedback/direction as needed.

+ Coordinates and negotiates with internal and external stakeholders.

+ Creates, updates, and implements training plans according to business needs or specific production lines.

+ Responsible for leading and coordinating Engineering teams and activities over multiple products.

+ Collects information to recommend management/policy decisions.

+ Leads cross-functional team activities to ensure continuous improvement in processes, equipment, products, and components. Uses systematic methods such as collecting and analyzing downtime/scrap data, dimensional data, etc.

+ Practices 5S and Plan/Do/Check/Action cycles.

+ Supports TS16949 and ISO 14000 audits, as well as other customer and/or company required audits.

+ Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products. Creates timelines and goals. Controls project launch to ensure meeting customers requirements and company targets.

+ Leads APQP/PPAP/run-at-rate events. Completes required documentation.


+ Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field with minimum of 8 years engineering experience. Experience in automotive manufacturing industry is preferred.

+ Must be able to read, interpret, and create blueprints and technical documents.

+ Must have at least 5 years of hands-on experience with high volume CNC Machining, automated assembly, and/or plastic injection molding processes.
