**Materials Engineer - Waterloo, IA (50704) - Contract**

Lead analyst shall perform scheduling of OEM suppliers and accept the responsibility for supply and inventory support. Special projects and analysis assignment completion is required. Individual shall have the skills to operate various testing and analytical equipment including combustion carbon analytical equipment, OES spectrometer, and ductile image analytical equipment under the guidance of a Foundry Metallurgist.


+ Skills required include chemistry laboratory support and test sample preparation/operation of polishing equipment grinding and polishing.

+ Operation of equipment includes calibration, standardization and reporting of results.

+ Capability to perform shift start-up and shutdown independently.

+ Perform incoming materials standard procedures and testing.

+ Conduct defect analysis and produce OEM customer metallurgical reports.

+ Advanced instrumentation maintenance and product evaluations.


+ Bachelors degree in Metallurgy/Material Science

+ 2 years or more experience with steel or cast iron

+ Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft office

+ Open to recent grad candidates who are open to learning

+ Previous Foundry experience is highly preferred


+ Candidates need to be open to all shifts (1st, 2nd and 3rd)

+ Physical requirements must be met as described. This position requires the ability to meet the physical demands of an industrial environment.

+ Individual must have the ability to work 10-12 hours per day including standing 2-3 hours periods per day with repetitive lifting of 10- 15 pounds.

+ Occasional need for climbing steps, heavy overtime, and off shift performance are included in requirements.
