Materials Laboratory Technician

The Materials Laboratory Technician will assist engineers in failure analysis of parts/equipment involved in unplanned events, generate reports and makes recommendations to prevent reoccurrence. This position also requires running corrosion tests, metallurgy lab equipment upgrades and maintenance. Knowledge of materials i.e. coatings, metals, plastics and ceramics is required. Good computer and report writing skills are required.


**Responsibilities:**


+ Assist engineers in performing Material Failure Analysis.

+ Run corrosion tests (NACE and electrochemical).

+ Perform safety inspections and maintenance of lab and equipment.

+ Participates in materials technology network activities.

+ Inspect plant specialty materials in plant i.e. PTFE, zirconium and coatings.

+ Reading technical drawings, P&IDs and process flow diagrams


**Qualifications**


**Preferred Requirements:**


+ Associates Degree in Science or Technology

+ Materials or Metallurgical Laboratory experience

+ Knowledge of corrosion testing and metallographic techniques is required

+ Minimum 5 years experience in laboratory focusing on chemical/corrosion/metallurgy.

+ Welding knowledge
