Materials Management Lead Role Description

The purpose of this role (why it exists):

Global Project Methodology (GPM) is the single global work flow process for the management of capital and expense projects within The Clients Company. It is the only Level 4 sub process under the Build and Modify Facility program.

Integrated Materials Management is a crucial aspect of project planning and provides foundational data for overall project execution success. Critical success factors during project planning and execution are to discover, define, document and deliver information for scope and date requirement needs, as well as, confirm readiness of materials for a project.

The status of the technical scope / specifications, requisition, purchase order, expediting status, delivery, receipt, installation need, issuing materials to construction, and ultimately handing over new equipment to operations from a capital or expense project should be easily visible to project teams and execution organizations.

The Material Management work process is an integral part of Client's Build and Modify work process with overlaps in Clients Global Source to Pay StP process. The accountability and primary responsibility of the material management work process, metric definition, improvements, and high level role description belongs to Technical Expertise & Support (TES) Integrated Materials Management Discipline.

The Material Management Lead role is executed by the Integrated Materials Management (IMM) functional group within TES - supporting capital, turnaround & expense projects. The IMM Discipline is responsible for the execution of the GPM and related and AWP work processes. The IMM Discipline is also responsible for developing functional or project aligned work processes or job aids as needed that align to the GPM and AWP work processes and business rules.
