Description **Mechanic Technician**


Plan, order, receive, store, design, direct, instruct, schedule, alter, modify, repair, assemble, disassemble, check and perform the work of the group and contractors assigned in carrying out various construction and maintenance operations such as plumbing, carpentry, rigging, welding, machining, refrigeration, and mechanical function. Practice and comply with environmental, health and safety directions and procedures.


1. Work from blueprints, diagrams, sketches, services manuals, specifications, procedures, layout sheets and other instructions to plan and direct group in carrying out various construction and maintenance tasks.
2. Determine requirements and recommend solutions to various problems encountered by the group such as blueprint or specifications discrepancies, alternate measures to be taken or special equipment or process to meet specifications. Troubleshoot and resolve problems encountered by group.
3. Plan, select material, set up, machine, assemble, disassemble, calibrate, modify, repair and inspect any type of tooling, fixturing, gaging, and test hardware.
4. Set up and operate equipment, such as heliarc, electric – arc, oxy – acetylene equipment, power saws, and drill press, power brakes, shears, rolling equipment, support equipment, depth gages, micrometers, calipers and feeler gages.
5. Plan, fabricate, install, align and troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic, rotational power transmission, and refrigeration systems as required to support engineering test programs.
6. Ensure that current Preventative Maintenance (P.M.) is being performed; identify and establish P.M. procedures where required. Review equipment records to determine recurring trouble, failures and suggest corrective action.
7. Participate in review, analysis and ordering of parts and material to insure appropriate inventory levels for parts crib. Communicate with suppliers on delivery or quality concerns.
8. When directing contractors, review quality of work and ensure all HSD contractor requirements are followed.
9. Utilize statistical methods to monitor process control and capability. Use data to investigate areas for potential process improvements and solve problems in cooperation with fellow employees and supervision.
10. Use computer systems such as data analysis, Engineers Labs Inventory and other inventory systems.
11. Instruct fellow employees in the proper performance of duties.
12. Maintain detailed record.
13. Keep equipment and surrounding areas neat and clean.
14. Observes safety and good housekeeping rules and practices.
15. Perform related duties as required within the scope of this job function.
16. Attend scheduled EH&S training program.
17. Actively support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed EH&S goals and plans.
18. Recommend improved EH&S practices

Education: Associate’s Degree

Experience: 5-7 years to meet minimum job requirements
